The hospital is enclosed by a picket fence and hedge. Between the buildings are forest*trees,, so that the area resembles a park. 6. Persons desiring care at the hospital first present themselves at their rayon clinic for the necessary examination. No documents are required., except for the identity card. At the clinic (ambulatory)., the doctor examines the patient and refers him, to the special department of the hospital if he decides the patient needs hospitalization. All hospital- care is free of charge, including surgery, medicines, special care, and food. 7? After having been discharged from the hospital., patients still in need of medical care report again to their rayon clinic. The clinic doctor prescribes necessary medicines according to the diagnosis of the hospital physicians. In this cases the medical examinations are free., but the patients must purchase needed pre- scriptions from the State pharmacies. q. Dr. Georgieva, and skin diseases spar ment r. All medicines., with the exception of aspiring magnesium., and bicarbonates., are under State control and may be purchased only with the prescription of a clinic doctor of a rayon or a doctor of the Civilian Hospital. The attending physician must specify on the prescription the duration of the treatment., and the pharmacist prepares the medicines necessary for the total period. If the treatment is to be extended,, the p Y'siei,an must refer to the prescription and indicate the period of ?ctension. Without the expired prescription,, it is impossible to obtain the prescribed medicines. The pharmacies are inept thder strict surveillance by the Ministry of Public Health,, which controls all the prescriptions and checks for falsifications. 9. a certain shortage of penicillin and streptomycin, but it is possible to purchase other medicines at the principal pharmacies. 25X1 10. The city of Sofia is divided into six rayons,, each of which has a clinic and is controlled by personnel subordinate to the Ministry of Public Health. The Workers 0 State Hospital, Plovdiv - - May 1953 .a.. The State hospital for workers is located on Ivan Vazov Street, approximately 200 meters north of the railroad station of Plovdiv.
