The rebuilding 'and extension work on the Stalin (Brasov) airfield was started
in late Maly, 1953. Except for the buildings occupied by an antiaircraft regi-
ment,, all buildings., including hangars,, towers, and garages are being demolished.
New barracks will be constructed at the northern edge of the airfield. The
administrative and technical divisions will be located at the entrance of the
airfield.
2. The size of the airfield will be 1,9900 by 1,560 meters. The excavation work for
the underground fuel tanks., which will hold five million liters,, has been com-
pleted. The concrete was poured in the middle of August 19.53. The ground work
for the roads has been completed and concrete is now being poured. The main
road runs from northwest to southeast and is about 18 meters wide. A side road.,
which is 12 meters wide., runs from west to east. The concrete layer is approxi-
mately 80 centimeters thick.
The construction work is being don by 16 Pioneer Regiment and the "Iosif
Ranghet4' Brigade of the Union of Working Youth.
