Derrald (fr,u), a Russian-speaking Conmerciai Department employ%ee, is the
only o-Cfieia.l of Siemens-Pl.ania now empowered to deal with the Soviet
acceptance engineers who visit the plant, or with an other Soviet,
officials who deaf with the Siemens plant.
Y.11 orders for silicon carbide (Silit) products arrive at the Siemens
plant in Lichtenberg in sealed envelopes delivered by couriers from
SAG F.':B-L Headquarters. Ho orders for these products have ever
been received from DiL The letters f roe: K.i BEL Headquarters are hand-
carried to the office of the Director, where they are opened by
Russian ;personnel only, and no formal orders indicating that delivery
is to be made on account of KLB EL or any other organization. has ever
been observed. Deliveries of silicon carbide heating rods against
these ord.ero are racked in wooden crates, lined .-ith mater resistant
corrugated cardboard, and then covered r.ith special tar paper, so
as to be reL dy for see transport. The crates are picked up at the
plant by truck. The identity of the trucking firm or destination
of those shipments it; not known.
3. Since 1945 there have been no deliveries of iraphite .'roduots
from Sier:ens-Plaria, Berlin-Lichtenberg, to the USSR directly, nor
have any shipments of electrodes been mad6 to the USSR. Large orders
for delivery of both electrodes and silicon carbide rods were filled,
hov; ver, for shipment to Czechoslovakia., Hungary and Ru.nania.
Czechoslovakia, is also reported to have purchased large quantities
of tamping clay (Stampfmasse) used to line the vats used in the
rcf-i.nement of bauxite and the c;:tract on of aluminum by electrolytic
means.
