1. On the morning of 22 August 1953, KW personnel were observed for the firat
time at Dessau airfield. At about 7 a.m., about 100 nen were lined up in
front of the high building. A sentry armed with a rifle was posted at the
entrance gate at Kuehnauer Strasse. Seven tents and 13 motor vehicles were
observed next to the high building
about 300 .VP. men were quartered in thie
building. Several double sentries patrolied-the. area of the field.
2.' On 2 September, the two wings of the former Junkers Hochhaus (high building)
in Dessau were occupied by soldiers. Windows were lighted in the evenings
up to the seventh floor. There was an estirated occupation strength of about
400 officers and EM and a musical band of about 40 men. About 50 men were
still engaged in winding-up work in the former Juno administrative building
which, prior to mid-1953, housed the main adrinistration for transportation
' and agricultural machinery. The building which formerly-housed the designs
bureau of the Junkers engine plant was equipped with tables, chairs and beds
in late August 1953. Prior to 2 September, the Jumo administration building,
the Juno designs bureau and the Juno Achterberg house were not yet occupied
' by troops. The buildings were not lighted in the evening. The VP troops who
hcd noved into the IFA high building and the Otto Nader plant wore black, green
and dark blue epaulets and collar patches.
