Comment. The dispatch of coal shipments from Poland through _the 50X1-HUM
Kuestrin border station, Which.wss first reported on 25 August 1953,
continued, probably to sale the traffic burden on the Csuben, Forst and
Harka border stations through which coal Shipments from Poland are
usually directed. The considerable increase of incoming hard coal shipments
is connected with a plan to convert all locomotives in East Germany from
brown coal briquette firing to hard coal firing. 50X1
During the reported period, a total of 2,378 carioado or hard. coal entered
East Germany'. This is a daily average of 119 carloads as against 81 carloads
recorded in the last reported period.
