THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION 25Xt, 25X13,, 25X1 25X1 25X1 25X1 Aithough the date of completion of Slectrolytical Plant No II which was under. -construction at the Elektrochemisches KoMbinatt VEBt in Bitterfeld.was still not eertain, the plant was assigned a 1953 production quota of 21$500 toms of metallurgical alumdnum. The State Administration for Material pply had$ howevere diatributed 24000 tons for 1953ftincluding 2000t tons which were to bs delivered as state reserve by Elektrochemisches Kombinat to Leiehtmetallwerk in t.fic-kwits near Leipeig,, Frat I. January to 15 May 19533, the Bitterfeld plant produced 6,643 tons of metallurgical a1uminum0.ncluding 107 tons of purest aluminum with an Al Percontnge of 99.95 percent, This meant an overfulfilment by. 426 tons of the production quota of 6,215 tons planned for this period? Since the State Aeministration for Material Supply had distributed 8,000 tonal, a deficiency of li,357 tons remained, the metellurgical aluminum production -plan mainly depended on the current supply0 the melting process of the electrolytical plant was constantly delayed by cuts of the current supply during peak load periods 'andthis would became etill more serious after the putting into operation of the second eientro4ticrj. plant. The production of resmelted alloys from aircraft scrap amounted to 4969 tons at the Bitterfeld plentras compared with a plan quota of 2,250 tons during the period from I January to 15 May 1953,, The deficiency. was caused by decreasing supply cf scrap. in the first half of May, the TranspuriAltic61 kisehina.. Construction naiii Adminestration in Dessau,of the Ministry for Transportation and Agricul- tural. Mechine Construction ,requested the State Secretariat for Chemistry to order test bars of magnesium-aluminumecopper-manganese aLoys for experiments, allegedly- on aircraft materials. For casting these bars which were echeduled to be produced at the Elektrochemisches Kombinat, 4 tons of metallurgical. magnesium. were requiredwhich had to be supplied from stores of the state reserve. These stores included several hundreds of tons of pure eaeneeium produced during the war and stored at the Leichtmetallwerk in Rackwite? , In early June 1953, rektrochemisches Kombiaat, VEB, in, Bitterfeld filled the . magneeium production' plan about 200 percent,. SIACO magnesium was being produced enly by reamating processes in Bitterfeldt this over-fulfilment was allegedly made NPYY tig CLASSIFICATION SeCRET ??,,LrR8 T DiSTRIBIMON 25X1 Approved For Release 2005/07/13 : CIA-RDP80-00810A002600160006-0 r Rele e.2005/07 : -RDP8ik ? 1.
