1. The Bratislava Electro technical Works (Bratislavske elektrotechnicke zavody - BEZ),
Bratislava, received its present name in 1948. It originally was known as Siemens-
Bratislava and after World war rr was celled CD-Krivan. The main entrance to the
plant is at Raoanska cesta 14, Bratislava.
2. About 620 persons are employed in the plant, 130 of them being women. Work is done
in three shifts.
3. Electric motors make up 70% of the plant's production. They are all three-phase
Motors of 6, 8, 12, 16, 18 and 24 horsepower and of 220, 380 and 500 volts. Monthly
oapacity is about 180 electric motors of all types. The entire output of motors
is for export: about 70% for the USSR and the remaining 30% for the satellite nations.
4. Transformers make up the other 30% of the plant's production. These are standardized
al transformers (Oeltransformatoren) for high voltages - 60,000 or 120,000 volts -
ind also for 220,380 and 500 volts. These transformers can be regulated. Monthly
production amounts to about 110 transformers. About 10% of them are for domestic
requirements; the remainder are shipped to the USSR.
5. Materials brought to the plant for processing include the following: minder armatures
(Wicklerarmaturen) for rotors, parts for and complete armature boxes, bakelite liners
for insulators, electrolytic steel, brass and brass wire (Messingdraehte). The
electrolytic steel, brass and brass mire are said to come from Lamer Austria; the
other material mentioned is from Czechoslovakia.
6. Electric current and gas are obtained from the city of Bratislava. Steam is produced
at the plant.
7. A railroad spur line leads from, the Novomeske Station to the BEZ plant. The plant
has four automobiles, five trucks and a travelling crane.
