The change in the rriorities of Berliner Technisches Buero (BTB) announced by
its director Smolikev (Thu) in late July 19..53 'was caused by the aussian
7lan to transfer all remaining SAC's to Geman possecsion at the beginning
1!".'54. It is now obvious that Smolikov must have been arprised in advance
of this Tan, Which was mFde public several weeks later. Also as a consequence
of the transfer plan., Smolikov cancelled his leave to Russia,w'eich he hs had
rianned for some time, On 25 August 19535molikov eosin gave strict orders
that only the projects listed below are to be worked on and to be completed in
the fourth quarter 3_953; no other work is to be carried out,and no other order
is to be accepted, The projects on the ultimate priority list to be completed
before the transfer of the LAO 's into Gorman possession are as...follows:

1253, two rurchasers from BTB have been assigned to visit all delivery firols and
make sere that all needed materials are delivered on schedule. In adoition,

of spectral lines in oreer to carry out this part, BTD bean in early 1()53 the
develorment of a srectrocraphs after the Zeiss firm in Jena had declinedsbecauee
of a lack of adequate material; to construct a spectrograph for BTB. The
device, which is about two meters long and 83 centimeters high, has now been
completed at 13Th and is in the process of being adjusted. It be used in
conjunction with a photometer (Lchnellphotometer) and a projection devices
both delivered by Zeiss Jena, for the evaluation of spectral. liner. Two more
spectrorraphs have been built at DTD; they will also be used for tenircratt.re
measurement with sTectral lines in projects 3107M ane 15/209t.0
4. In August 19%0 crankshaft test stand for. torsional and deflectional vibrations
(Kurbelwellenrruefstand fuer Torsions-und Diegeschwingung) arrived from
Dchopper, Leipzig2 This stand, Which is to be used for project 1/4M, is now
being mounted,
5. .ith the increased emphasis placed on carrying out the above-mentioned procct:7
and in view of the increased efforts to obtain on schedule all rartc and mater-
ials needed, it is believed that the projects will be completed by the end of
1953. The personnel of DTD also believe that they will continue to work for
the Russians after the transfer of SAG Transmasch to German possession.
This belief is based mainly on the fact that other technical oftices of the nAC,c
which were transferred to German rossessiol in 1952.;have ccntinued to work for '
