a. The Consolidated Research Institute in Ohlangch'un (N 43-53, E 125-20); formed
through the rsorgs.4ize,tion of the former Northeast Scientific Research
Institute and which directed the work of the following research office-at
Organic Chemistry Research Office; Inorganic Chemistry Research Office;
Agricultural Chemistry Research Office; Civil, Engineering Chemistry
Research Office; Mechanics Research Office; Electricity Research Office;
Mining Research Office; Physics Research Office; and Testing Office.
b. The Institute of Industrial Chemical Research, which was formed by
expanding the former Industrial Chemical Research Office of the
Northeast Scientific Research Institute)and which managed the following
research offices, High-pressure Hydrogenation Research Office; High-grade
Gasoline Research Office; Analytical Chemistry Research Office; Synthetic
Fuel Research Office; and Pottery Research Office.
c. The Physics and Chemistry Research Institute, which was first established
in Shanghai and transferred to Ch'angch'un in November 1952, directed
the work of the following research offices: Fluorescence Research Office;',
Spectrum Analysis Research Office,; and Seed Bactericide Research Office.
In late March this Institute was establishing additional research off-Lees.
d. The Metals Research Institute, for which the plant was under construction,
and the apparatus ordered. This institute had established a, Ch'iu,Mo
(3808/1075 Cast-iron Processing Research Office.

a. Studies by the Institute of Industrial Chemistry in high temperature
(kao lu) 7559/3619) clay bricks, lubricating oil, and the processing
of natural and synthetic petroleum.

b. Studies by the Synthetic Research Institute and the Institute of Physics
and Chemistry at Ch'angah'un in abrasives (mo cho ts'ai lino, I+333/ 820/
2624/2436), spectrum analysis (chi p'u fen hsi) 2817/6225/0#33/26+9) of
iron and steel (sic), wood pulp, and the knobs on the roots of soya bean
plants.
e. Studies of the Metal Research Institute in the fli h grade steel of Anshan
(N 41-04, E 122-57) processing of iron castings (ch'iu mo chu t'ieh)
3808/1075/6999/69935, and problems of heating steel and iron.
d. Studies of the Apparatus Research Institute in experimental production
of the following: optical apparatus, machines for testing materials,
and optical glass.
e. Studies by the Civil Engineering and Architectural Institute in the
testing of the degree of dryness of lumber and the testing of soil for
engineering projects.
f. Studies by the Forestry Institute in reforestation of lumbering areas,
and establishing of nurseries in forest and sand hill areas.
g. Studies by the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Institute, which
was' established in April 1953, of indiibtrial uses of metal castin
pressure (ya chu fa, 1090/6999/3127), supersonic sound detection (chao
yin po t'an Shang, 6389/7299/313+/2232/0281), and seven ray sound detection
(ch'i she hsien t'ou ship t'an shang, 0003/14+10/8982/6631/6018/2232/0281).

had the following scientific research organs: the Consolidated Research
Bureau at Ch'angch'un with more than ten research its on civil engineering,
mining, mechanical science and so forth; the Industrial Chemical Research
Bureau at Dairen, with research units on chemical analysis, high-grade
gasoline, fuel combination, and pottbry firing; the Research Bureau of
Qeneral Physics and Chemistry, which was moved to Ch'angch'un from Shanghai;
and scientific instrument manufacturing and researching unite In addition,
there were under construction or in preparation a Metals Research Bureau,
and several specialized research bureaus on civil engineering, electrical
engineering, soil,.axd forestry.
