On 5 April 1953 work that had been suspended in January because of United Nations 25X1 air raids was resumed on the. airfield at YC-445095 in ! ngyang ni (N 38-01, E 125-47) (YC-4411). A labor force of about 100 men and 30 supervisors was assigned to dig trenches in the vicinity of the airfield. Approximately 20() workers were recruited from surrounding areas to help in the reconstruction work. All the work was done at night, four nights a week. Three trenches have been completed east and west of the airfield. The trenches were camouflaged with brush and weeds during the day. 2. In May the Sinmak (N 38-25 E 126-13) (BT-5755) Airfield in fr?,wit, of , the Silllmak Railroad Statiot was under reconstruction. It had been abandoned in 1945. Approximately 3,000 villagers recruited from surrounding areas were doing this work in spite of continuous United Nations air raids. Tunnel-like shelters made of sand bangs were being made to conceal and protect planes. 25X1 There were no planes assigned to the field although 20 NI{ army troops were guarding the field. 25X1 25X1 1.
