There wereper- he.ps 100 lens grinding machines with multiple spindles (ragging from 6 to 24 per machine). These same machines also had polisaing adapters which could be used interchangeably with the grinders. There were. at least 300 milling machines, all of similar size9 with about halt of this number of the vertical type and the other half horizontal ty ess all from Zeiss9 Jena. There were at least 100 metal grinding machines of all sizes. The largest category of machines transported to Zavod 393 was lathes. There?were at least 200 small mechanie??a lathes (Mechaniker?s Drehbanke) for light assembly work; at least 100 medium lathes, and a minimum of 100 heavy lathes, the two latter sizes used for regular production work. In addition, there were numerous boring machines and drill presses, both large and small, as well as h smaller machine equipment, all from Zeiss J na. Soviet types were-also ir use, since a shortage se of the boring machinea. Zavod 393 had an apprentice prog.rrabm with approximately 200 boys and 100 girls enrolled.
