About noon, 22 IAG-15s, .1. single--engine monoplane and 1 biplane were
parked in the area of the hangars. Between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. the engines of
three ?'3G-15s were started but no take-offs were Made. At that. time only
The following air activity and aircraft were observed at Koethen airfield
between 2 and 11 E ay 1953:

MiG.-15s and 2 singld--engine monoplanes were parked in the area of the hangars.

2. On 4 May, work was under way at the shrapnel-proof aircraft revetments. Twenty
enpty railroad cars, which had been loaded with crushed stones were observed
on the epur track. On 7 flay, 6 railroad cars loaded with crushed stones or
chips were uiloaded on ' both sides of the gap in the fexice..
lA T''ay.` At 10.30 a.m., two 1-:iG-1 or- U--MIG-I 5 planes,
took off. The sky was overcast.

4. On 7 May, MUG-15s with auxiliary fuel tanks practiced local flying and
flying over the clouds at Koethen airfield between 11 a.m. and noon. There
was a 10/10 overa:a.st at an altitude of 400 to 500 meters and it rained
intermittently. Between noon and 12:30 p.m.., a Po-2 was seen aloft. About
2:30 p.m., 18 MG-15s with auxiliary fuel tanks were parked in the area of
the hangars. Between 9:30 a.mn. and 10:30 a.mn. on 10 May, few take-offs and
landings were observed by AG-15s which made local flights. `.here was a closed
ceiling at an altitude of 60C to 701) meters and it rained intermittently. About
7:30 p.m. on 11 May, a MG-15, coming from the east, landed at the field. Bet-
ween 13 and 20 May, there was air activity by.MiG-15s, Fe-2e and single-engine
monoplanes. 1
5. On 9 and 18 May, three railroad tank care each and, on 12 .Mai, two railroad tank
cars were observed on the siding at the field. On 12 May, an additional four
gondola cars loaded with timber were observed in the southeastern corner of
the field.

I I 7. Between 10:30 a.m. and .4:30 .m. on 10 May, no air activity was observed
at the field. The sky was 9/10 overcast. Thirteen MiG-15 or U-Mi.G 15 planes
were parked in frond of the hangars. In the noon hours on 19 and 20 May, no
air acti t was observed. Between 11:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on 1 June,
25X1 MIG-15sl took off in elements of two and sub-
sequently practiced flying elements of two and formations of four planes.
At the same time, single-engine monoplanes practiced take--offs and landings.
Between 1 and 4 June, night flying was conducted. At S005 p.m., the take-off
of a formation of four planes was observed. 1
8. On 1.0 May, work on five shraanel-proof aircraft revetments at the southern
edge of the field was con leted while work was still going on on other revet-
25X1 ments to which trucks were hauling sand.
9. About 200 meters west of the hangers fuel. drums were observed in a bunker
next which a container of a diameter of 2.5 meters and a length of 8
meters was seen.

In early June, the PKV-45 D/F station was roved from the field to a place
3 km distant from the field between Gross-Badegast and Pfriemsdorf.
Between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on I June, there was intensive air activity by
planes which took off individually, in elements of two and once in a forrea-?
tion of four. The sky was very cloudy. Truck was seen near the
field.

rationed at PKoetheri airfield.

times the radio station was located on the ,airfield, but, according to the
present report, it was again moved to the flying lane.
