On 30 April. 1953, the Neues Lager at Jueterbog was occupied by l,OOO
to 1,500 troops who wore red t 3 p.m.
on 18 April, 7 T-34/85 tanks I hleft the
tank garages toward the training area. They were followed 8 AT guns
and 120 soldiers. A practice attack toward dumpy houses was conducted
on the training grounds on 18 April. The exercise was witnessed by
about 350 FDJ members who arrived by truck frora all directions at about
4 p.m.. While the tanks equipped with flame throwers at the left side:
of the turret attacked the dww.q village. officers of the VolkspolizeI.
and Soviet soldiers informed the FDJ members on the course of the
exercise which ended at about 8 p.m. The tanks returned to the quarters
and the FD3 members departed toward?Treuenhrietzeno

The 'troops engaged in the 1761a exercises
presumably belonged to the 14th Gde Metz Div. It could not be
determined whether components of the 14th Gds, IMMecz Div are quartered
in Neues Lager.
