2. There are piles of lumber to be used for telephone poles and mine props at
several railroad stations, especially those near heavily wooded areas. These
are eteaked near the, track for easier loading. Such piles can be found on the
Czerak Bak-Koso: my and the Laskowice-Czerak-Chejnice lines as wall as at the
Tuchola (P54/N70) railroad station and some of its neighboripg stations. The
size of the poles is approximately 12 meters in length and 20 to 60 centimeters
in diameter.
3. Saw mills in the area have stocks of lumber, mainly pine deal-boaruu't,t:s;1
all unseasoned and would,be inadequate to meet the demand' even if it were'
seasoned. Factories will not accept the unseasoned lumber for fear of tyiAg up
their bank credits.
4. 'e state sawmill, Las, located 1 km. from Bydgoszcz Wschod, has approximately
280,000 cubic meters of deal-board on hand. Another mill, State Sawmill No. 3
in Czerak, has approximately 1$0,000 cubic meters of unseasoned pile deal board
in-its yVde. To alleviate this situation the party has ordered the immediate
expansion and new construction of lumber drying facilities.
5. The so-called central supply depots have neverl had any
reserves. Whatever goods were delivered to them were immedisytely seat out to
the production plants which very often had to wait six months for supplies.
