The Cartographic Institute of the Hungarian Army (Heaved Terkepdszeti Intezet)

a. The institute is surround by a stone wall and barbed wire. Search lights
mounted on the wall illuminate at night the area between the building and
the mall. The main entrance is on the Malinovsky Sdtiny, the two side
entrances are'on secondary streets and are always closed. During the day
two guards are posted at the main gate. At night this is locked and patrols
guard the area between the building and the wall.
b. The officers working at this installation serve as guard officers. The
guards at the institute and assigned to the institute for duty far tht'field

5. The field work consisted in the summer of 1951 and 1952 of correcting mapei..
Far this purpose each department of the institute was assigned a definite area.
Each officer of a department was given a section of approximately 100 square
kilometers, which the officer had to sorer within three weeks, meaning that he
was to make appropriate corrections of an available map within that period.
6. The winter is spent mostly with recording the material collected during the
summer. The area around 7 z8tur, among others, is a part of Department IV.
Officers em field duty are supplied with a car, a driver and etnenlisted aim
as assistant. Such a group stays overnight at inns located in the area
assigned to it. Road distances are measured with a very accurately set
speedometer of the car, changes (now buildings, rail limes, etc.) are measured
with a tape measure and recorded on the map. Such items as changes in
senstruetieni drainage of arias, as well as rsimt wm of streets and bridges
are recorded.
7. Sizes 1950 the activity of the institute was considerably expanded and was
more accurately defined. The officers had to fill out a questionnifts for
every somsumitt. situated in their areas. All industrial enterprises, ware-
houses, transport facilities, public buildings (particularly schools and
hospitals) mills, bakeries, and stores which possess storage space ball to be
listed as well as'the exact figures of the vise of the ?storage space, performance

Party office is to supply this information. The estimated strength of the
