1. A group representing Peronista interests has purchased the right to use the
name Partido Laborista in Chile and is contributing large sums to its organi-
zation, as part of a well-planned political penetration project, Mario
SPECTOR, newly-arrived Argentine manager of Radio Prat in Santiago, heads the
Peronista organizational group, while Luis BERGER, a Chilean, is the.titular
head of the new Party.
2. The Partido Laborista has already been accepted into the ranks of Maria de la
CRUZ' newly-formed Federacion de Fue'rzas Ibanistas (FFI), a combination of the
major independent Ibanista forces, and has been allotted the number-five spot
on that organization's list of candidates for deputy from Santiago's first
district. The SPECTOR BERGER forces, meanwhile, have initiated a concentrated
membership drive calculated to increase the ranks of the new Partido Laborista
and are reportedly subsidizing attendance at organizational meetings.
3.. The new Party reportedly has unlimited financial resources and plans a gradual
propaganda intensification through the Chilean press and radio. The Partido
Laborista may assume a relatively important role on the Chilean political
scene...
4. SPECTOR is a close confidant and collaborator of Maria de la CRUZ, and his
primary mission in Chile is to take charge of the formation of the Peronista-
controlled Partido Laborista. No further information is available on BERGER.
