The Ministry of Aviation Industry USSR has been assigned the production
of 30,000 bicycle motors in 1954 and even more motors in 1955? In 1 4 the
ministry x111 also produce txenty thousand 1.8-horsepoxer outboard motors Yor

In 1954, the Minsk Motorcycle and Bicycle Plant is to produce 40-50 per-
cent morn bicycles than it did in 1953? The plant x111 soon precision cast a
number of parts instead of hot stamping them. The bicycles will be decorated
xith a Belorussian ornament and x111 be inscribed xith the xord "Minsk."
The plant x111 slno increase the output of motorcycles.
CRITICIZE RIGA BICYCLES -- Riga, Sovetskaya Latviya, 3 Nov 53
There are eight large bir_ycle plants in the USSR, but Leningrad receives
moat of its bicycles from the Riga Sarkana Zvgygzne Plant. Recently, the qual-
ity of bicycles made by this plant hau been falling, and complaints have been
made about the drab colors and defective front Yorks oP the bicycles. The pleat's
bicycles do not meet the requirements set by COST (State All-Union Standards).
Pavlov, director of the Sarksaa Zvaygzne Plant, hen refused to sign a sex agree-
ment for improving the quality of bicycles.

In September 1952, the consumer goods shop of the Cor'kiy Motor Vehicle
Plant imeni Molotov was turning out 144 bicycles and 204 metal beds daily; nov
the shop is producing 470 bicycles and 480 metal beds daily.

The consumer goods shop oY the Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant produces 2,000
(metal] beds sad 26,000 metalxare articles monthly. In the first 7 months of
1953, the plant delivered more than 400,000 rubles' xorth of consumer goods to
the Chelyabinsk store of Glavunivermag (Main Administration of Department 3torea}

beds and 500,000 rubles' worth of furniture.

The~Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant, Ministry of Transport and Heavy Machine
Building USSR, has not carried out its plena to produce chromium-pleted beds
because the plant's Administration of Capital Construction, headed by Yalrovlev,
has held up construction oP an electroplating department for 1 1/2 years.
The plant also planned to produce sluminumvare, but the tool division,
headed by Pantegovyy, has prepared only txo of the ten dies needed for 'the pro-
duction of these articles. The shop does not receive enough metal for the pro-
duction of'aluminumvare.

The Cor'kiy Dvigatel' Revolyutsii Plant is not fulfilling its plan for
household irons, and the irons it makes are very expensive. The irons are ma-
chined and assembled Sn shops No 1 and 8.
The Gor'kiy Krasnaya Etna Plant has not fulfilled its plan for metal beds
and children's sleds for 2 months, mainly becau.:e it has failed to mechanize
operations in the consumer goods shop.'
The Gor'kiy Krasnoye Sormovo Plant fulfilled its August 1953 Plan for con-
sumer goods by only 43 percent.
