Santana Commune, Arsd Regiune, d?livered only 17 percent of its quarterly
meat quota. The executive committee cf the commune people's council was to
blame. Of the two collectors in charge, one went to school and the other was
on vacation during the harvest. Kulaka Anton Mandl, Mihai Poar, Gheorghe Zama,
William Wilsemaier, and Stefan Musca wer^ a'_lowed to sabotage collections.
Furthermore, Pavel Greco and Ioan bsrtin, employees of the people's council,
neglected their duties.

1 Jul 53
Harvesting progressed wail in Bals Rion, Craiova Regiune, but little
preparation was made for threshing> A decree of the Council of Ministers,
issued on 9 May 1953, stipulated that all threshing platforms were to be
set up by l5 June and that threshing was to start 5 days after reaping.
However, only nine of the 120 platforms schedti.ed were set up by 25 June.
In Popanzalesti Commune not one of the six threshing platforms scheduled

proper plan for threshing. In Mircea-pods Commune, for example, the plan
provided for 42 days of threshing, while the work aciually required only
i5 days. Many MTS were not prepared to start threshing end the grain re-
mained 1n the fields.
MTS AND STATE FARMS IN IASI REGIUNE NOT READY TO START THRESHING -- Bucharest,
Munca, 8 Jul 53
Bortas ~n~, Chairman of the Agricultural Workers Union Committee
of Iasi Regiune, failed to assist and guide agricultural planning. Machines
and implements nee.ied for the harvest were in poor shape and MTS were
neg3igent. The Iugan and Moara Grecilor MTS, the Todiresti State Fs.rm, and
the Iasi Machine Repair Center were all behind in their work. At the Pascani
State Farm weeds choked plants and at the Razboeni State Farm 200 hectares of
plants were completely overgrown. However, Gheorghe Apostol, chairman of the
administrative committee of this state farm, was not disturped by this sit-
uation. At the Bucium Si;ate Farm 75 percent of the vegetables spoiled and at
the Avereatt State Farm 20 hectares of corn were chcked by weeds because of
lack of workers. Aktiva have become sinecures ara =scaly "visit" farms and
MTS. Raion committees neglect their work.
