RUMANIAN MEDICAL INdT.1LLATIONS AND E@UIPMENP STATE ARMY MEDICAL INSTALLATIONS IN HUNGARIAN AUTONOMOUS REGIUNE -- Bucharest, Vista Sindicala, 20 Nov 52 In the past, there were hardly any health stations in the Hungarian Autonomous Regiune, and tae town of Targu-Mures, Largest town in the regiune, had only one state hospital and one private sanitarium. At present, through government assistance, there are in operation one large unified clinical hospital, two polyclinics with 14 specialized sections, and ablood-Transfusion center servicing the entire regiune. In recent years, two children's dispensaries and five maternity homes were opened; and the Gornesti castle, former >ransion of Count Teleky, today contains a tuberculosis preventive clinics for children. There are many more improvements. in the field of health slid sanitation in the Hungarian Autonomous Regiune. To date, there are in the entire re- giune 13 unifie hospitals, 20 rural hospitals, four polyclinics with spe- cialized sectio ,five childrenf's dispensaries, 47 raternity homes, an3 86 dietary kitc ens. % In Sangiorgiul-de-Padure Raion alone, where no health stations e;cisted in the past, there are today 3 rural hospitals, 2 children's dispensaries, 6 maternity homes, and 10 dietary kitchens. A tuberculosis dispensary for adults and a rural children's dispensary are now under constructii:n. I NEW POLYCLINIC IN PIATRA-NEAhII' __ Ducharest, Vista Sindicala, 27 Nor 52 A new polyclinic was opener on 26 November 1952 in the town of Piatra- Neamt. The new polyclinic, which is constructed from specifications of heP.lth centers in the Soviet Ur_ion, has 16 tunes of medical services, labora- tories for analyses, oental technicians, and is serviced by specialized per- sonnel. The name of the new polyclinic is 21 Decembrie. Stressing the concern of the party for the welfare of the working peo- ple, Alexandra Custescu, president of the executive committee of the people's council of Bacau Regiune, stated that two new hospitals for adults, as well ae 23 disper:.~ariea for rural sections and nine communal dispensaries were built in the last 2 years in that regiune. Two children's hospitals, 2 poly- clinics, 10 dispensaries for children, 100 milk centers, and 147 dietary kitchens were also opened. BRANCOVENESC HOSPITAL, "LENIN" RAIUN -- Bucharest, Vista Capitalei, 12 Nov 52 Brancovenesc Hospital services "Lenin" Raion. It has under its super- vision a main polyclinic and three affiliated polyclinics. In all, the hos- pital supervises 2j health zones, which in turn have 21 medical offices for enterprises. This situation was not incidental. Soviet medicine and experience was of priceless assistance. Nor has the administrative and teaching angle been neglected. The establishment of an urgency pls.n made possible the training of new personnel at the four university clinics. Simultaneously with the rebuilding of the polyclinics and maternity wards, the interior of the hos- pital was renovated. Subsequently, it was provided with the newest equip- ment: Work did not atop at that, however. The entire staff of the hospital showed great enthusiasm and did outstanding work in the embellishment and equipment of this institution. The three gardens s:rrounding the buildings of the hospital were planted and landscaped through voluntar;? work, the waiting rooms decorated with fresh flowers, the library provided with thou- sands of books, and radio sets installed everywhere. The same is true of the polyclinics under the supervision of the hospital, located in Strada Veseliei and Strada Soldat Candea, the children's clubs and homes, and also the ice factory which is needed for treatments. The voluntary contributions made by factories and plants in this raiin should be stressed. Outstanding among them were Vulcan, ICAR (Institutul de Cercetari Agronomics, Institute of Agronomy Research), Frigul, Frigotech- nica, and IREB (Intreprinderile Regicnale Electrice din Bucuresti, Regional Electric Enterprise of Bucharest). Through the creation of collectives, in- cluding members of the UFDR (Uniunea Fe~ilor Democrats Romans, Union of Democratic Rumanian Women), families, and patients, relations were greatly improved. Patients' mail is being taken care of, and the families of the sick are kept informed daily of the condition of their kin. A hcme-visiting service was also set up. In addition, a sustained health-education program for citizens, through posters, photographs, discussions, and lectures, is held in the halls of the hospital. Dr Dan Constantinescu and Drld>'haiIonescu are showing great enthusiasm in their work, supervising the courses. i'~+o special courses, "Ready for the Defense of fiealth" and the "School for the Mother", are given by lec- turing physicians from the hospital. The following nurses are also specially deserving: Araxa Arutineanu, Dida Petre, Ana Mihailov, and Isabela Teodorv. They render great services in assisting the ~octore. BIgOD CEN2'ER IACATED AT BUZAU -- Bucharest, Scanteia, 4 Nov 52 The town of Buzau has a center for the conservation of blood for tran~- fusions, as wall as two transfusion units for urgent cases. This center services seven raions of Ploesti Regiune. The center is located in a build- ing xith special laboratories end consultation rooms. It is provided with all necessary equipment, much of :~hich has been imported from the Soviet Union, The conservation end transfusion center works according to the methods of the Moscow Institute for Hematology. Thin renter is rendering valuable services and is saving many lives. MEDICAL EQUIPMENT PRODUCED AT RECAS ENTERPRISE __ Vienna, Nac'nrichten sus der Rumanischen Volksrepublik, 19 Sep 52 The Rumanian medical equi~nent and instruments industry has achieved new successes in the few years since it began making the supplies needed by health institutions. Nox, the Recas State Health Equipment Enterprise is producing complete sterilization equipment for large hospitals, operating tables, dentists' chairs, various types of electric disinfection equipment, thermostats, and other items.
