was recorded locally in the eastern European USSR.

Light rains'fell in Belorussia, the Ukraine, central European USSR, and locally
in the Caucasus. Precipitation in the form of rain and wet snow was recorded
in Komi ASSR, and Kirov and Molotov oblasts.

precipitation in the form of rain end drizzle fell in Arkhangel'ek Oblast, the
central European USSR, and the Caucasus. Slightly cloudy, cold weather was ob-
served in the Baltic countries, southwestern Belorussia, the Ukraine, Lower Volga
Region, the Crimea, and Rostov Oblast. Local frosts occurred in these areas dur-
ing the night.

The last days were especially rainy and cool in all regions of Turkmen
SSR. In most areas, rain fell continuously; this was unusual for the month
of October. Rains were heaviest and also most continuous in the mountain and
foothill areas of the Kopet-Dag. The rains revived pasture vegetation.
At the same time, a considerable drop in temperatures was recorded. This
was due to an intrusion of cold air masses from the northwest.(3)

This morning, cloudy weather prevailed in most of the European USSR.
Precipitation in the form of rain and (locally) wet snow fell in the Middle
Volga Region, in the form of drizzle in Bryansk Oblast and northern Gor'kiy
Oblast. Light rain was recorded in the southern Baltic area.

This morning, warm, cloudy weather with light precipitation mostly in
the form of drizzle was observed in the northern half of the European USSR.
Heavy snowfalls were recorded locally in Molotov Oblast. Heavy rains fell
locally in the Transcaucasus.
Last night's lowest temperature in Moscow was 4 degrees below zero; it
was 2 degrees above zero at noon today.(1)
