Estonian SSR
Approximately 40 percent of all agricultural work performed in the repub-
lic in 1951 vas mechanized. (1)
Harvesting of potatoes in the republic is to be completed by 10 October,
and of sugar beets by 20 October. As of 1 October, Saunas Oblast had completed
the 1951 plan for delivery to the state of potatoes by only 2.6 percent.(2)
Belorussian SSR
The area planted to potatoes in the republic in 1951 was over 100,000 hec-
tares larger than prevar.(3) Spring grains were sown to 200,000 more hectares
this year than in 1950, and flax sown to 40,000 more hectares in 1951 than in
1950.(4) The 1951 plan for draining marshland in the republic was fulfilled
106.5 percent by mid-October. During 1951, 23,000 hectares of meadow and pas.
ture land were drained, grubbing and clearing of bushes and shrubbery was car-
ried out on an area of 91,000 hectares of meadow and pasture land, ane 43,900
hectares of plowland was cleared of stones.(5)

percent for the republic as a whole (22); as of 30 October, this figure was
53.59 percent.(23)
Sugar-beet-growing kolkhozes of the republic should have harvested 50 to
60 percent of the 1951 crop by mid-October; actually, they had harvested only
9.4 percent.(24)

On 15 October, kolkhozes of the republic had completed the 1951 plan for
loving winter crops by 56.8 percent.(25)
As of 25 October, kolkhozes of the republic had completed the 1951 thresh-
ing Plan by 98 percent, and the 1951 plan for plowing zyab 17.3 percent.(26)

As of 1 October, th. republic had fulfilled the 1951 cotton-procurement
Plan by 45 percent, whereas on 1 October 1950 the figure was 60 percent. (27)
Oroznyy Oblast sowed twice the area to cotton in 1951 that it did in 1950.
However, the crop has not been well cared for, and harvest prospects are
poor.(28)

for zyab in kolkhozes of Leningrad Oblast in 1951, and the total area allocated
for zyab in kolkhozes of this Oblast in 1951 should be 119,113 hectares
