On 30 June, 19 dentists were graduated from the College of Dentistry in
Zagreb, the first 'to graduate from this college since its establishment 4
years ago, Thus far, about 160 students have been enrolled; by the end of
1951, about 100 students will be graduated and will begin practice.
The college has 20 dentist's chairs, a laboratory which can arr ommodate
40 students, and an institute for preclinic therapy, where students do their
practice work. The college has its own librsry and a' museum with e fairly
rich collection. The college does not have its own building, but 3s using
four buildings located in various parts of Zagreb.
A shortage of textbooks has been resolved by issuing class lectures in
the forty of textbooks and manuscripts, which, besides being of practical value
in school work, are an important addition to Yugoslav literature on dentistry.
h;EDICAL SCHOOL IN ZAJECAR HOLDS FIRST GRADUATION -= Belgrade, Borba, 28 Jun 51
Za,jecar, 27 June -- Many srezes in Timok Oblast do not have a sufficient
number of doctors or medical assistants, although various contagious diseases,
primarily tuberculos.: of the lung and endemic syphilis; are still widespread.
The inhabi~;ants are so unenlightened medically that quackery is still common.
For this reason, a secondary medical school was established in ~~Jecar
in 1948; its first class is graduating in 1951. These technicians will en-
deavor to raise the health standards of the inhabitants of Timok Oblast.
During its first year, the school had 22 students, but had no regular in-
structors except one nurse-instructor, Nevertheless, the school operated
normally. The students studied over 20 different general and professional sub-
Jects, including all those necessary for the technical +,raining of a medical. as-
sistant. ,

Novi Pazar, 1 July -- A Yugoslav Army group is teaching sanitation to
residents of the Sandzak. It is now visiting villages in Sjenica Srez.
Before beginning its work in a village, the group holds meetings to ex-
plain the importance of its work. Results have been good, but could be improved
if the local people's councils, especially the Antifascist Women's Front, give
more help.
