During the first 12 hours of 29 August, rain fell in Ryazan', Voronezh, and Tambov oblasts and in the eastern Ukraine. In the rest of the European USSR, mostly slightly cloudy and dry weather continued. On 29 August, noon temperatures were 19 degrees in Syktyvkar, 20 in Moscow, Minsk, and Voronezh, 21 in Leningrad, Orel, and Riga, 22 in Tambov, Kursk, and Kiev, 25 in Gor'kiy and Kishinev, 26 in Kirov, Krasnodar, and Dnepropetrovsk, 28 in Saratov and Rostov on the Don, and 29 in Kuybyshev and Simferopol'.
