BUNG-SHAN HSIEN GOVERNMENT BANS CIVILIAN USE OF GASOLINE
Chung-shan, 16 May -- Effective 15 May 1951, the Chung-shan Hsien govern-
ment banned the use of gasoline by all civilian cars, trucks, and buses, and
ruled that these vehicles must immediately be converted to burn charcoal gas.
The government also ruled that no vehicle will be allowed to operate until it
is converted, and that any violator of this rule shall be severely punished.
The only vehicles exempt from this ban are trucks engaged in transporting
goods between Macao and the Kung-pei Customs House, and military vehicles.
