COMPLETE KWANGTUNG-VIET NAM HIGHWAY REPAIRS -- Hong Kong, Hsing-tao Jih-pao,

.Fort Bayard, 3 June -- The Fort Bayard--Tung-hsing highway in western Kwangtung
province, which has been under repair by the Communications Department of the
ao.ngtr,.:; ~covincial government since April 1951, was completed on 25 May 1951,
:nd was opened-to traffic on 1 June 1951.. The highway, which begins at Fort Bayard,
I aes through Chu-ch'i, Lien-chiang, Ho-p'u, Chin-hsien, Fang-ch'eng, and Tung-
hsing, all in Kwangtung Province, and ends at Mon Gay in Viet Nam.
Repair work on this highway was undertaken to facilitate the flow of military
supplies from Kwangtung to Viet Nam, Henceforth, all military supplies from
Kwangtung to Viet Nam will be transported first by shins from Canton or Hai-k'ou
to Fort Bayard,' and then on this highway to Viet Nam.
OPEN EAST KWANGTUNG HIGHWAYS TO MILITARY TRAFFIC Hong Kong, Hsing-tao Jih-pao,

Canton, 8 May -- Engineer troops of the Fourth Field Army, assisted by about
30,000 civilians, completed repairs of the damages on the two main highways in
eastern Kwangtung caused by recent floods, and opened them to military traffic on
8 May 1951. Highways repaired and reopened to military traffic included the -
Canton-Swatow highway, which basses through Hui-ycag and Hai-ferg, and the Canton--
Hsing-ning highway, which goes, through Tseng-ch'eng, Po-lo, Ho-yuan, Lung-chuan,
and Wu-hua.

OPENS TWO HIGHWAYS NEAR CANTON -- Hong Kong,Hsing-tao Jih-pao, 5 Jun 51
Canton, 4 June -- On 6 June 1951, both the Canton--Chung-shah Highway, con-
structed by the Kwangtung Provincial government, and the Chung-shan--Chiang-men
Highway, constructed by the Chung-shan which begins will t1.Paugh to traffic.
The Canton--Chung-sLan Highway, gi
connects with the Chung-span--Macao Highway at Chung-span, while the Chung-shah--
Chiang-men Highway connects with the Fo-shan--Chiang-men Highway at Chiang-men.
The scheduled passenger and freight services from Canton to Macao over the
newly constructed highway was tentatively set to begin in mid-June 1951,
