OF PAGES 1 SUPPLEMENT TO REPORT NO. THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION EIPEASIZE SAVING OF RA MM %TAT-0 The saving of raw materials is very diligently pursued in the Titania metallurgical plant. The materials are used strictly " _ording to planned norms. Waste is aJr t fully utilized for the production of new-articles. Small. aluminum cuttings are used for the manufacture of shoe-polish con- tainers or for framework, and unused scraps are recast. To eliminate waste and increase labor productivity, the plant should manufacture large assortments of one type of goods. The 1951 plan envisaged the manufacture of 25-liter milk containers for the Serdika dairy enterprise, but according to an agreement with the fairy, 1,000-liter tanks will be manufactured instead, thus reducing the contemplated investment by 23 million leva. Special attention is paid to the economical use of enamel mixtures. The waste is poured into special pits and used for new manufacturing processes. The enamel waste collected in 1950, was used to produce glazing, and saved 30 million levy in foreign currency. Recast-aluminum waste is used for the manufacture of forks and spoons, which heretofore had been produced mainly in artisan workshops. The savings through this new industrial method will reach 320,000 leva. However, work at the Titania Plant is still suffering from some short- comings. The shapers in the sheetmetal shop are not properly supervised and are located too far from the machine room. As a result, this department frequently produces substandard goods. The lathes should be controlled by the machine room. Waste from punching machines should also be collected more carefully and used for the manufacture of new articles. The cutting depart- ment should be more careful in storing waste according to size, to avoid de- laying the subsequent work procedures. The policy of replacing imported material by the local product should also be pursued more vigorously. 50X1-HUM TT I BISTRIBUTIOII Tt-~ Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2011/10/19: CIA-RDP80-00809A000600390421-1
