LIS'1S SOAP, FATS RATIONS
On 1 March, rationing of .soap and Pats will be extended to Budapest,
Debrecen, Gyor, Miskolc, Ozd, Pecs, Salgotar,jan, Sopron, Szeged, Szolnok,
Szombathely, and Tatabanya and to certain mining and industrial regions.
Sugar and flour are already rationed in'these places. It was net neces-
sary to ration soap and fats in rural areas in which these commodities are
produced.
After a peasant has surrendered the required amount, he may,sell sur-
plus fats and other produce on the open market both within and outs,ideMareae
under rationing. Surplus products may be sold at prices higher t'h8n the
ration prices. I

The period for which the ration coupons are itisued is not stated, but
is probably one month]
Basic and supplementary ration coupons Por expectant and nursing mothers
must be received at home Prom the government house representative by 3 March.
Other supplementary coupons are received at the place oP work.
Workers eating in shop cafeterias must surrender coupons .equivalent t~
20 decagrams of Pat for one meal and bO decagrams ?or two meals per month.
Every employed person, the spouse and children of an employed person,
employed persona' parents who do not have independent income, pensioners,
and those receiving state allowances and social security, aid will receive
ration coupons Por soap and fats. ?.ationed items are sold at a fixed price.
Other persons, including independent merchants, artisans, persons with an
independent income, and the unemployed, may purchase asap on the open market.
