RECRUIT WOMEN FOR INDUSTRY
MORE PRAGUE WOMEN WORKING -- Prague, Lidove Noviny, 17 Nov 50
During the month of October 1950 a'total of 7,867 Prague women took employ-
ment. Of this number, 4,663 had previously been occupied at home. These figures
indicate a favorable response to the call for workers, but the possibilities in
the Prague area alone have been far from eXbausted.
Several Prague enterprises, particularly the transport enterprises, are mak-
ing work more attractive for women by offering half-day work shifts.
URGE MORE WOMEN TO REPLACE MEN -- Prague, Lidova Demokracie, 13 Oct 50
A recent meeting of the Czech Newspaper Club was devoted to the problem of
recruiting additional women for factory work. Evzen Erban, Minister -of Social
Welfare, emphasized the need for women to replace men in light industry, so that
the latter may take their place in heavy industry and thus heighten production.
Speaking for the CSZ (Czech Union of Women, Ceskoslovensky Svaz Zen), Anezka
Hodinova-Spurna urged women to volunteer their services to industry, since child
care facilities and social security measures were being made increasingly avail-
able.
