Dnepropetrovsk Oblast delivered 500,000 more pud of wheat in 1950 than in 1949. Volyn Oblast delivered 400,000 more pud of grain in 1950 than in 1949. Chernigov Oblast delivered 648,000 more put of grain in 1950 than in 1949 and 5,030,000 more pud of grain than in 1940. Brest Oblast has met its 1950 grain delivery plan. The Jewish Autonomous Oblast, Khabarovsk Kray, has met its 1950 grain de- livery plan. Moskovskaya Pravda, 9 Sep 50 Khar'kov Oblast has met its 1950. brain (excluding corn) delivery plan. The wheat and rye delivery plan was met 118.1 percent. Delivery of wheat was 1+,097,000 pud in excess of plan. Moskovskaya Pravda, 10 Sep 50 The Armenian SSR gave the state 320,000 more pud of grain in 1950 than in 1949 Sumy Oblast delivered 3,400,000 more pud of wheat to the state in 1950 than in 1949. Kulyab Oblast has met its 1950 grain (excluding rice) delivery plan. Tbilisi,, Zarya Vostoka, 10 Sep 50 In 1950, the Ukrainian SSR delivered 74,141,000 more pud of wheat to the state than in 1949. AZERBAYDZHAN MEETS COTTON DELIVERY PIAN --'Pashkent, Pravda Vostoka, 31 Oct 50 The kolhozes and sovkhozes of Azerbaydzhan SSR met the cotton delivery-plan 55 days.earlier this year than last, giving the state 102,9004more tons of cotton than on the same date in 1949 and 50 percent more than for the entire year of 1940. The yield per hectare was 7.3 centners greatar than in 1940. PUTS OUT MORE CANNED GOODS -- Baku, Bakinskiy Rabochiy, 10 Sep 50 Output of canned goods is incr acing in Azerbaydzhan SSR. The plants o~ Azkonservtrest (Azerbaydzhan Canning` Trust) will produce more than 29 million cans of canned goods in 1950 -- considerably more than last year. Khachmas Canning Factory, largest in the republic, puts out large quantities of canned tomato juice and sauce, vegetables, fish, meat, and other foods. This year, the factory will produce about 900,000 cans of cucumbers and in August more than a million cans of tomato juice. The factory will soon begin to process fruit juices. The Kuba Canning Factory puts out stewed and pickled fruits and apricot, strawberry, apple, and melon jams and preserves. The factory produces more than 300,000 cans of preserves annually. The Ordullad Canning Factory produces a varied line of canned fruits and preserves. The products of Azkonservtrest are sent to the Far North,.Moscow, Leningrad, and other cities. NEW VARIETIES OF WHEAT SOWN -- Stalinabad, Kommunist Tadzhikistan, 9 Sep 50 Kiev -- Test sowings of more than 120 varieties of grains and sasses at the state testing centers in Kiev Oblast have shown that the largest wheat har- vest"was obtained from sowing "Iyutestsens-17" winter wheat, which yie 4bd 67- 70 centners per hectare. "Eritrospermum-15" wheat yielded 45-50 centners per hectare when sown experimentally. Many kolkhozes of the oblast obtained yields entire kolkhoz sowing areas. Alma-Ata, Kazakhstanakaya Pravda, 10 Sep 50 A new variety of winter wheat named "Alabasskaya," developed on the fields of the Karaganda Experimental Station, has been widely sown on the kolkozes of, Karaganda Oblast. Y'.^lds obtained this year were good. After providing themse..es with seed, the kolkhozes sent 8;500 centners of the grain to Akmolinsk, Kokchetav, North Kazakhstan, and Novosibirsk oblasts and Krasnodar Kray for sowing there. Sowing of "Alabasskaya" wheat is now in progress and already twice as much has been sown as at this time last year. AGRICULTURAL EXPOSITION TO BE HELD IN 1951 -- Odessa, Bol'shevistskoye Znamya, 28 Jul 50 An all-Union agricultural exposition will open. in Moscow in 1951. It will show the achievements-of socialist agrobiological sciences, the progress of lead- ing republics, krays, oblasts, rayons, MTS,andkolkhozes, and the fast rate.ef agri- cultural growth during the postwar period. All sovkhozes, kolkhozes, MTS, and individual workers who have successfully conrleced their 19+9 and 1950 plans, may participate in the exposition. Participants will be awarded gold and silver me- dals. Leading kolkhozes, sovkhozes, and MTS will exhibit specimens from the 1950 harvest. Many kolkhozes have already prepared their exhibits while others, be- cause of lack of knowledge about their role in this work, are not making satis- factory progress. The exposition area is being expanded. Ten new pavilions will be built. The most important part of the exhibition will be the area allotted to illustra- ting work done on the-Stalin Five-Year Plan, the Three-Year Plan for developing livestock production, irrigation, and mechanization and electrification of kolk- hoz and sovkhoz operations. For this, fields with crop rotation, Michurian gar- dens, and model livestock farms will be set up. KOLKHOZ CONSOLIDATION CONTINUES -- Nal'chik Kabardinskaya Pravda, 1 Sep 50 Consolidation of Ukrainian agricultural artels is continuing. About, 3,700 larger artels have been created from 9,182 smaller ones. Many of those consol.i- ,oated this spring have' successfully completed their harvesting work and fulfilled the. state plan. ELECTRIC LIGHTS TO REPLACE CANDLES IN NORTHERN VILLAGE -- Moscow, Komsomol'skaye. Pravda, 9 Sep 50 Khabarovsk -- In the Far North, construction of a kolkhoz hydroelectric plant was begun on the reindeer-raising kolkhoz imen Kirov in Koryak National Okrug, Kamchatka Oblast. With all kolkhoz workers taking part, a 250-meter-long dam was quickly built over the small Sedanka River. Final assembly work is now in progress. Electric lights will soon illumiate the homes of the reindeer raising villagers of Sedanka-Kocheveya. Soviet-studies of the animal?B habits and of rethods.for propaga ting it in.the Soviet Union led to its introduction iri the Armenian SSR in 1940. It quickly-became e.climatized in the Ararat Valley. At present, the main task of the Armenian nutria industry is that of supplying breeding stock to nutria- raising farms in other parts of the country.
