Shih-lung, 10 September -- It is reported that 500 well-uniformed
',Cantonese-speaking troops of the CCF Third Field Army equipped with ten or
tgore artillery guns have been transferred from Canton to the CCF Twenty-
Seventh Command at Teieng-ch'eng, Kwangtung. T'nede troops are reported to
be former members of the Kwangtung-i:wangsi Column under the command oP

newly formed CCF First and Second Division under temporary jurisdiction of
the Fourth Field Army, are reported to have arrived at Huang-sha, Canton, at

Centon, 31 July -- The lll+th Division of the CCF "_'hirty-eighth Army, Fourth
Field Army, which recently arrived at Canton has been transferred to Fukien to
reinforce the unita'oY the Third Field Arty. This division is commanded by Chen
..Tt;-ch11x (2). The Thirty-eighth Army, comprised largely of former K?PT troops,
was being transferred from Hainan to the northa Upon arriving at Heng-yang, it
was recalled and transferred to the Amoy area instead.

Macao, 5 September -?~ Units of the 131st Division, Fourth Field Army,
which had been engaging in production activities in Chung-shan, Kwangtung,
massed at Shih-ch'i on 3 September 1950 to be transferred to Canton to sup-
press guerrillas in the Canton and Fo-shan execs.

drafted by the CCP authorities to transport over 10,000 Communist troops,
formerly stationed on the Wan-shan Chun-too and Tang-chie-wan, Chung-shan,
Kwangtung, to Canton,
TEND HUA GOES TO HANKOW -.- Hong Kong, Kung-shang Jih-pao, 2 Aug 50
Canton, 31 July -- On 29 July 1950, Teng Hua (3) left Canton for
Hankow to confer with Lin Piao who contends that Teng Hua should remain in
active :military duty by taking command of some CCF units being transferred
to Hankow, Teng Hua is commander of the 15th Army Group?of the Fourth Field
Army, chairman of the Hainan Military and Administrative Committee, member
of the Provincial Council of the Kwangtulig People's Provincial government,
and commander of the Canton Garrison Headgaa:tersb During his absence, Lai
Ch'uan-chu (4j, political commissioner of th? Canton Garrison Headquarters
is acting as commander, while Feng Po-chu (5), deputy chief of the Hainan
Military and Administrative Committee; is acting a chief,
FORMER KMT FORCES COMPRISE ARMY GROUP -- Hong Kong, Kung-shang Jih-pao, 3 Sep 50
Taihoku, 2 September -- It is reported that the Sinkiang C:F Twenty-
Sl'cond Army Group is comprised mainly of former KMT forces numbering 100,000
with the former KMT leader Tu Chih-yueh (6) remaining in command but under the
supervision of the CCF political commissioner, Wang Chen (7), Already 25,000
of these troops, who defected to Chang Chih-Chung?s (8) forces, have deserted
the Communist forces and many have become active in guerrilla warfare.
The former Sinkiang Nationalities Army is reported to have been absorbed
into the CCF Fifth Army, First Field Army, commanded by P'eng Te-huai (g) to
suppress bandits.
UNIT OF FOURTH FIELD ARMY REVOLTS -- Hong Kong, Kung-s_iang Jih-pao, ~ Jul 50
On 29 June 1950, some 120 troops under Lin Ch'i-dung (10) of the Fourth
Regiment, Second Division, CCF Fourth Field Army, revolted and ,joined forces
with the guerrillas in the Taeng-ch'eng area, The uia,jority of these troops
are said to be natives of Kwangtung,

Chen Chung-i (11) in attacking Ho-k~ou, Yunnan on 10 July 1950. In addi-
tion, 6,000 CCF troops in Mei-haien, ~wangtun~ under Li Chieh (12) have
also revolted,
KwANGTUNG ABANDONS DEMOBILIZATION PROGRAM -?- Hong Kong, Hsing-tao Jih-pao,
10 Jul 50
Canton, g July -- Kwangtung Communist authorities have abandoned the
demobilization program formerly adopted to permit troops to return to their
respective villages to take part in production activities, This action was
taken because of recent international developments which tend to be bringing
about a third world war, . In fact, there are indications that the Communist
forces are being expanded,
All KMT troops taken prisoners by Kwangtung Communists, who hsd been
returned to their native villages or vrho had been undergoing additional
training in Shih-Ching, Kwangtung, have received orders to return to Canton
to report for active military duty. It is .reported that approximately
10,000 of these troops will soon be assigned to the Fourth Field Army to
take up defense positions in Central China,
CADRE GRADUATES TG BE TRAINED IN IPITELLIGENCE ACTJVITIES -- Hong Kong, Kung-
shang Jih-pao, 11 Sep 50
Canton, 10 September -??- Of the 1,925 graduates from a Keungtung cadre
school, 500 were selected to be sent to Hankow for further training in in-
telligence activities under Soviet instructors, The remaining graduates op
this class are to be given intensive training on the subject of land reform.
