THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION WEATHER REPORT, 5 - 21 JULY 1950 WEEK ENDING 12 JULY -- Sofia Izgrev, 12 Jul 50 According to information from the Ministry of Agriculture, the weather during the past week was exceptionally hot. Maximum temperatures for the entire country were between 33 and I+0 degrees; the highest temperatures were on 5 July (35-1+0 degrees). On the night of 7 July successive waves of comparatively cooler air came in from the northwest, causing a lowering of temperature, perceptible cloudiness, and rainfall. The rainfall on the night of 7 July covered mainly the western parts of the country, and that on 8 and 9 July covered almost the entire country. Rain- fall for the entire week averaged between 20 and 30 liters per square meter for the larger part of northern Bulgaria and the Thracian lowlands, and under 10 liters per square meter in the larger part of northwestern Bulgaria, south- eastern Bulgaria; aLl Sofia okrug. The heaviest rains of the week were meas- ured in Karapelit, Tolbukhin Okoliya -- 128 liters per square meter) Pazardzhik: --?73; Isperikh -- 72; and Teteven and Kubrat -- 60. Low to moderate westerly winds. Minimum temperature 16-18 degrees, maximum 26-29= 13 July 1950. Mostly cloudy in western Bulgaria with brief local showers, mainly over the mounrainous regions. In eastern Bulgaria, predominantly sunny most of the day, with intermittent and variable cloudiness. Low to moderate northwest winds. Minimum temperature 16-19 degrees, maximum 26-30. Predominantly sunny over most of the country, with varir- able, mostly dense cloudiness, very pronounced in the afternoon in western and central Bulgaria; brief local showers later, mainly over the mountains. Low to moderate southeast winds. Minimum temperature 16-20 degrees, maximum 29-34 (along the Black Sea, under 30 degrees). 19 July 1950. Sunny and hot, with development of summer cloudiness, very pronounced in the afternoon and over the mountainous regions. Low to moderate winds: northwest in western Bulgaria and northeast in eastern Bulgaria. Mimi- mum temperature 16-20 degrees, maximum, (along the Black Sea, 28-30 degrees; in the rest of the country, 32-35). 20 July 1950. Clear and almost completely calm in the night in eastern Bulgaria. In western Bulgaria, decreasing cloudiness, clearing in many places. During the day, sunny and warm, with development of very pronounced summer cloudiness around noon and in the afternoon, mainly over the mountainous re- gions. Low to moderate, mostly northeast winds. Minimum temperature 15-20 degrees, maximum along the Black Sea, 27-30 degrees; in the rest of the coun- try, 32-36. 21 July 1950. During the night in eastern Bulgaria, almost cloudless. In western Bulgaria, mostly cloudy, brief local showers later. During the day, mainly sunny over most of the country. Around noon and in the after- noon, mainly over the mountainous regions in central and western Bulgaria, very pronounced summer cloudiness will develop, and in scattered places it will rain again.
