THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION HINDER CCP GOVERNMENT ESTABLISHMENT -- Hong Kong Hsing-tao Jih-pao, 28 Mar 50 Taihoku, 27 March (Chung.yang) -- At a press conference on 26 March 1950, at Taihoku, Sha I-t'1 (Ueda: 6031, 3395, 3896), former director of the Sinkiang KMT Affairs Committee, reported that nationalist guerrillas in Sinkiang are actively engaged in obstructing the establishment of a CCP regime in that area. Sha and his wife led a group of more than 50 Moslem Uighur youths froi Ha-shih in southern Sinkiang across the Pamir mountains, through Pakistan, India,'and Burma, to Hong Kong. The trip required 6 months. According to Sha, the people, especially the Mohammedans, resent the Soviet penetration into Sinkiang under the CCP regime. To appease these groups, the CCP authorities took steps to form a Provisional People's government. He said, how- ever, that this did not help the situation, and that the people are intensifying their anti-Communist activities. Sha further stated that some 5,000 KMT guerrillas in the Ha-mi and Ha-mi-k'o areas are led by Yao Lo (1793, 5279), Wu Ssu-man (6835, 4373, 6476), Li Tau-t'ang (4735, 8117, 1765), and Ma Ping-lin (13680, 2899, 4803). These guerrillas are concentrating their activities on severing the Communist communication system. Sha also reported that the people of Sinkiang are looking forward to the day when Gen Hu Tsung-nan (9411, 2322, 1010) will liberate them from the Communist regime. Canton, 27 March -- The CCP South China Sub-Bureau recently announced the fol- lowing report on KMT-guerrilla-suppression activities in Kwangtung and Kwangsi since February 1950. 1. The KMT guerrillas in the Yao-shan and P'eng-pei-shah -- Ping-nan areas, under the command of Chang Kuo-ts'ai (Ueda: 3065, 1639, 4738), nave been actively engaged in spreading anti-Communist propaganda to incite the people to oppose the collection of grain by the CCP government. In the Lu-feng Hsien area, the leaders of the KW. guerrilla group called the "Long Hair Group" (ch'ang-fa tang) who were organized to pilfer storehouses, carry aut assassinations, and other subversive activities, were captured on 20 February by the Communist authorities. 3. In the Hsi-hua and Na-p'ing areas, more than 100 members of the Anti- Communist National Salvation Army were killed and 162 members were captured.
