HINDER CCP GOVERNMENT ESTABLISHMENT -- Hong Kong Hsing-tao Jih-pao, 28 Mar 50
Taihoku, 27 March (Chung.yang) -- At a press conference on 26 March 1950, at
Taihoku, Sha I-t'1 (Ueda: 6031, 3395, 3896), former director of the Sinkiang KMT
Affairs Committee, reported that nationalist guerrillas in Sinkiang are actively
engaged in obstructing the establishment of a CCP regime in that area. Sha and
his wife led a group of more than 50 Moslem Uighur youths froi Ha-shih in southern
Sinkiang across the Pamir mountains, through Pakistan, India,'and Burma, to Hong
Kong. The trip required 6 months.
According to Sha, the people, especially the Mohammedans, resent the Soviet
penetration into Sinkiang under the CCP regime. To appease these groups, the CCP
authorities took steps to form a Provisional People's government. He said, how-
ever, that this did not help the situation, and that the people are intensifying
their anti-Communist activities.
Sha further stated that some 5,000 KMT guerrillas in the Ha-mi and Ha-mi-k'o
areas are led by Yao Lo (1793, 5279), Wu Ssu-man (6835, 4373, 6476), Li Tau-t'ang
(4735, 8117, 1765), and Ma Ping-lin (13680, 2899, 4803). These guerrillas are
concentrating their activities on severing the Communist communication system.
Sha also reported that the people of Sinkiang are looking forward to the day when
Gen Hu Tsung-nan (9411, 2322, 1010) will liberate them from the Communist regime.
Canton, 27 March -- The CCP South China Sub-Bureau recently announced the fol-
lowing report on KMT-guerrilla-suppression activities in Kwangtung and Kwangsi
