Prof Dr Eilhard Mitscherlich, professor agricultural science at Humboldt
University in Berlin and member of the German Academy of Sciences, for his
scientific experiments on the improvement of agricultural yields.
Prof Dr Erhard Schmidt, professor mathematics at Humboldt University in
Berlin.snd member of the German Academy of Sciences, for his scientific re-
aearch, particularly in the field of linear and nonlinear integral equations and
on the isoperimetric problem.
Dr Johannes Harting, research director in chie: of the Carl Zeiss Yorks and
the Association of People-Owned Optical Enterprises in Jena, for the creation of
the practical and theoretical prerequisites for the reconstruction of the Zeiss
plant.
Adolt Hennecke, black-coal miner, foreman at the Karl Liebknecht (people-
owned) mine in Oelsnitz and initiator of the activist movement beari a his name.
Prof Dr Heinrich Barkhausen, professor of by amperage technique and member
of the German Academy of Sciences, for his scientific investigations.
Prof Dr Hans Cloos, professor of geology at Bonn University, for his out-
standing contribution as founder of the study of granite tectonics.
Prof Dr Friedrich Hund,profeasor.of thearetlcal physics at the Friedrich
Schiller University in Jena and member of the German Academy of Sciences, for his
scientific contributions in quantum physics.
Dr Hans Knoell, director of the microbiological institute of the people-owned
Schott and Associates plant in Jena, for the development of processes for the manu-
facture cf antibiotics, particularly penicillin.

Prof Dr Sedlaczek, director of the people-owned Max Huette metallurgical plant
in Unterwellenborn, for his achievements in the expansion of the plant.
Helmut Hensel, manager of the Max Huette plant in Unterwellenborn, for his ex-
emplary efforts in developing the competitive movement in this metallurgical plant.
Otto Ringel, section chief in the Max Huette plant, for outstanding organiza-
tion of labor in the shipping and communication system in the plant.
Erich Pfroetschner, plant manager of the Riesa people-owned steel and rolling
mills, for outstanding services in the construction of the plant.
Karl Pilling, master founder at the Riesa Steel and Rolling Mills, for initia-
tive displayed in the development of the competitive movement in the plant,
Richard Schmidt, master smelter in the Hennigsdorf Steel and Rolling Mills for
his achievements as first activist in the metallurgical industry.
Dr Otto Krueger, section chief in the Thale Iron and Foundry Works, for his
achievements in the development of substitute materials for the enameling process.

entation of the theory and history of economic crises.
Prof Dr Hans Stubbe, professor of general and specialized genetics at the
University of Halle and member of the German Academy of Sciences, for his re-
search in plant cultivation.
Dr Erich Correns, plant director of the people-owned Thueringen Cellulose
Factories in Schwarza and director of the fiber research institute of the Adad-
e ' of Sciences in Teltow-Seehof, for his scientific contributions in the sphere
of fiber research and his participation in the development of the cellulose
plant in Schwarza.
Karl Nitzsche, foreman in the people-owned Uroma glass factory, for his
services in connection with the preservation of the German clock industry.
Paul Sack, bricklayers' foreman in the people-owned Stralsund shipyards,
for the development of new productive working methods in the building industry.

Dr Otto Fleischer, technical director of the Black Coal Administration in
Zwickau, for his performance in the development of the Zwickau-Oelsnitz coal-
mining area.
Erich Burdach, engineer, technical director of the Association of People-
Owned Brown Coal mining Installations in Welzow, for the development of snrface
mining and the production of briquettes.
Gerhard Boehnisch, manager of the dump at the Ammendorf plant of the. Brown
Coal Administration in Merseburg, for the introduction of new working methods and
the development of the activist and competitive movements.
Stanislaw; Szymanski, foreman in the Tatkraft plant in Senftenberg, for his
active participation in the rehabilitation of the brown coal industry in Branden-
burg.

Fritz Himpel, pit overseer, for organizing the activist movement and for increasing

Kaiser, engineer and director of the laboratory and Ernst Seidel, engineer and
plant manager, for the production of fine nickel wire and the setting up of a con-
veyor-operated lacquering installation.
