THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION Parades were held on 7 November in many cities in honor of the 32d anniver- sary of the Great October Socialist Revolution. Garrison commanders Issued parade orders during the week preceeding the holiday. Military units from the local gar- rison and military schools paraded together with units from local civilian organ- izations. The following information on the parades and celebrations was taken from local newspapers. Guards General-leytenant Kozak, commander of the Kishinev uarrison, issued Order No 107, dated 3 November 1949. to troops of the Kishinev Garrison, as fol- lows: Troop units of the Kishinev Garrison will participate in the parade. The deputy commander of the garrison will lead the parade. Summer parade uniforms will be worn. Colonel of Militia Pashchenko. chief of the Kishinev Militia Administra- tion, will be responsible for maintenance of order during the parade.(l) The Kishenev City Soviet of Workers' Deputies held a joint meeting with repre- sentatives of Party, trade union, and Komsomol organizations, and the Soviet Army in honor of the Revolution at the Moldavian Theater of Music and Drama on 6 Novem- ber. The presidium of the meeting included to nerais Kozak and Kazakevich, and others.(2) The parade was reviewed by Guards General-ley-tenant S. A. Kozak. Other of- ficers on the reviewing stand were I. L. Mordovets and F. Ya. Tutushkin.(3) General-leytenant Kosyakin, commander of the Kiev Garrison, issued Order No 35, dated 3 November 1949, to troops of the Kiev Garrison, as follows: Military school and troop units located in Kiev will participate in the parade. Guards General-polkovnik Grechko, commander of the Kiev Military District, will review the parade. General-leytenant Kosyakin is designated as parade commander. Pa- rade uniforms will be worn. Among the 2,000 people attending this .aeeting were deputies to the Supreme Soviets of the U&SR and Ukrainian SSP, members of the Central Committee of the KP(b) Ukraine, ministers of the Ukrainian SSP, generals and officers of the Soviet Army, and others The presidium included Guards (,eneral-polkovnik A. A. Grechko, N. S. Khrushchev, and others.(5) General-polkovnik Chibiscv, commander of the Minsk Garrison, issued Order No 22, dated 5 November 1949, to troops of the Minsk Garrison, as follows: Marshal of the Soviet Union Timoshenko, commander of the Belorussian Military District, will review the parade. General-polkcvnik Chibisov is designated as parade commander. Generals and officers will wear parade uniforms; noncommissioned officers and pri- vates will wear guard duty uniforms without gas masks. Tikhonenko, chief of the Minsk Militia Administration, will close pedestrian and all transport traffic at 0800, 7 November, on the following streets Sovetskaya, Moskovskaya, Nemiga, and, Gorkiy and adjoining side street'. The Minsk Garrison commandant and the chief of the Militia Administration wil! be responsible for the maintenance of order during the parade.7) The Minsk City Soviet of Workers' Deputies held a joint meeting with repre- sentatives of party and public organizations in honor of the Revolution. The pre- sidium included Marshal S. K. Timcsherko, I. F. Tsanava, and others.(8) Marshal S. K. Timoshenko received the report of General-polkovnik Chibisov, parade commander, and reviewed the troops a' the parade'9). The Commander of the Pot'rozavodsk Garrison ':sued Order No 36, dated 6 Novem- her 1949, to troops of the Pe-rozavodsk Garrison Military units and members of administrations and ir.sti-uti:on= located in Pe'rozavodsk will take part in the pa- rade. The commander of the White Sea Military District will review the parade. Winter parade uniforms wiii be worn. Ccljnei Dzr'yelishvili will be responsible for the maintenance of order !lO The Petrozavodsk City Committee of the KF%'b) Karelo-Finnish SSR and the City Soviet of Workers' Deputies on 6 November held a joint session with representatives of Party and public organizations and the Soviet Army in honor of the Great October Socialist Revolution. The presidium included Party and government leaders, gen- erals of the Soviet army, and representatives of the intell.igentsia.(11) General-leytenant Gerasimenko, commander of the Riga Garrison, issued order No 40, dated 1 November 1949, to troops of the Riga Garrison-. Military school and troop units and military teams will participate in the parade. General-leytenant V. R. Vashkevich, acting commander of the Baltic Military District, will review the parade. General-leytenart Gerasimenko is designated as parade commander. Winter uniforms will be worn. Unit commanders will dispatch the formations and arrive for the parade according to the instructions and route of march issued by Col N. S. Gritsikhin, garrison commandant. Special instructions will be issued for the ar- tillery salute. Col N. S.
