Yang Kuo-min (Ueda: 5123, 1639, 5935) and Eau Ta-hero (3141, 1946, 4376) have been sent to Shams-hai to recruit skilled workers. They Pre screening the hwavy-industry canter in East Shang-hai to get unemployed persons t; go to Shantung to take p.rt in production. Airaady they have secured 44 men. Others are needm4, according to a classified list of vacancies, and those who are qualified and wish to go to Shantung for work may do sc. It is also learned that the governor of Sungkiang Province and the head of the Ha-e.,h-pin Engineering College have visited Shang-hai to recruit a large number of college professors and skilled laborers to share in the reconstruction 6f the Northeast. The Shang-hai branch of the Scientific Workers' Society is registering skilled workers for the purpose of putting them in touch with vacancies in various liberated REFUGEES BEING RETURNED TO VILLAGES -- Ta ;:utg Pan, 6 Ang 49 Shang-hai, 7 August -- The returning of refugees in Shang-hai to their native villages started at the end of June 1949. The East China Bureau of the CCP Central Committee announced on 24 July 1949 that since Shang-hai is suffering from the Nationa'.ist blockade and from its huge population of refugees, in order to ease the city's burdens and to reduce unemployment in Sharg??hai it is absolutely necessary that these refugees and unemployed people in Shang-hai be returned to their native villages to help increase farm production. All those who are now unemployed, or are refugees In Shang-hai, are not allowed to apply for any temporary relief programs in this area, but must comply with this government directive. SHA.NG-BAI FACTORIES MOVE INLAND -- Ta Kung Pao, 1 Sep 49 A number of factories in Strang-hai have decided to move to such cities as T'ien- ching, K'ai-feng, etc. For example, the To-ch'ang Egg Products Plant has begun the move to K'ai.,fong; the Ta-bua Dyeing Plant has decided to move to Tien-ching; the Rua-fu Electric Fixtures Plant is moving to T ien-ching; the Ya-mei Electric Bulb Factory 'Is seeking a site in T'ien-ching; the Chung-yuan Telephone Instrument Factory is planning to go to the Northeast; and the Ling-en Electric Fixture Plant expects to met up a branch in Shantung. PENCIL FACTORIES MOVE TO NORTHEAST -- Ta Kung Pao, 22 Aug 49 Shang-hai, 21 August -- Two factories in Shang-hai, the China Standard Pencil cooperate with the 71a-erh-pin Enterpr"se Corporation (ch'i-yeh kung_asu). Thirty _- - - h idens ec n DiQS- INVITED TO NORTHEAST -- Wen-hui Pao, 6 Sep 49 Hsi-an -- The Northwest Textile Development Company has sent three telegrams to public and private cotton mills in Shang-hai inviting them to move to the Northwest. The telegrams stated that the various provinces in the Northwest produce large quantities of cotton and wool, and that the area is quite favorable for the development of the textile industry.. They also stated that Shensi Province produces an average of over one million piculs of cotton annually, the quality of which is very good; and that in all Shensi there are only about 90,000 spindles, leaving much room for expansion of the industry.
