SIEMIANOWICE COAL MINE ABSENTLEISM AT 17.9 PERCEGT -- Trybu a Ludu,
No 226, 18 Aug h9
For 11 August, the Siemianowice coal mine reported the fo].lowJne
figures. absenteelor, 17.9 percent; productivity, 87.9 percent of plan;
extrac, ion, 89.7 percent of plan. The mine, which is one of the lsrgeet
mines in the Chorzow Association, failed to meet the Jute e,rd July quotas
and it to doubtee. that the August quota will be met.
According to the representatives of workers, management, and the
PZPR fCCaamunisi7party, the quotas were not too steep to be met? The
quota for August is 3,161 tons of coal. The fallarc to meet the quotas
is due to he great absenteeism prevailing at the mine. Ue^rly 900
workers are absent tally at the mine, of which 60 percent are either on
vacations, attendl;ig courses, or 111. This means that ner.rly 400 workers
per day are absent without just cause. Cat of total lose of 12,000 work-
days, 3,359 days were lost thro_gh unnecessary absenteeism. Tho daily out-
put of the Siemianowice coal mine Is figured on an average of approximately
1,400 kilograms of coal per capita. The ab...,ve amount multipliod by 3,359
days lost without-cause, equele 4,702 tons of coal that could have been
mined.
Up to 12 August, there has not been one meeting called to discuss
"aye of overcoming this fault. The IS.'R party, at the mine, has made no
effort to remove constant absentees from its rank.
On, th.i other hrr,T. the working conditions at this mine are not roadu..Ive
to tht bcrt results. It eeema that the Chorzow Association could im-
prove work:nN; c0ndlltione at third Tairt which, in turn, would reduce ab-
senteeiam rud Increase production.
