Thus far 75 'oreeding stations have been founded in Bosnia and Hercegovina,
where stook-ruining is one of tine most important branches of the economy. Another
29 breeding stations are to be established during 1949.
Specific areas in this republidihave been allocated for the raising of 'pe-
oiYio livestock, as areas have been designated for tine culture of. specific ore'pe.
Collective stock farms have been founded in the following looalitl.eer in
Bosnia and.Hei?segovinai Balinovik, Gecko, Fojnica, Dunce, Glamoo, and Travnik.
Modern methods of animal husbandry, especially artificial insemination, are prac-
ticed to a heat es;ent on these farms. Dairying also is being developed there.
Tea state fares also are taking part in scientific stook-raising in addition
to growing crops. Ivery farm workers' cooperative eventually will have its own
treeding station.
Teat year 12,500 ewes and 150 cows it Bosnia and Hercegovina were bred by
artificial insemination. This year new centers for artificial insemination are to
be opened. Skillet personnel will. be trai..,.,& in a course at the "lEladen Stojanovic?
state farm.

According to the latest figures, there are now in Croatia 1,230 cooperatives,
with a membership of acne than 34,)00 ruEiliee and about 150,000 hectares of land,
with over 16,500 hoses. 18,400 cattle, 24,800 hogs, and 42,500 sheep. To date,
609 collective fags, with 29,142 hectares of land, 444 horses, 727 cattle, 1,096
hogs, and 3,329 sheep have been founded in Croatia, to addition to 85 fishing oo-
opere:tives with 2,650 members.
By the beginning of April 1949, there were at least two far. workers' cooper-
atives in every Croatian arez.
