By order of the Presidium of the Suprne SovIlst USSR, Iavrentiy Pavlovioh
Beriya, Deputy Chairman, Soviet of Ministers USSI, has been awarded .he Order
of Lenin on the occasion of his 50th birthday and as a reward for his long
service to the Communist Party and the Soviet people. The order, dated 29 March
1949, was signed by N. $hvernik, Chairman, Preeldiua of Supreme Soviet FEAR,
and A. Goriia, Secretary, Presidium of Supreme Soviet USSR.

Alekaandr Pavlovich Yefiaov has been elected first secretary of the
Nhabarovek tray and city ccomittees, succeeding R.N. Naterov, who has
been ordered to take further study.
The Fourth Plenun of the Tabarovsk Kamp Committee vl'1(b) held llilarcb,
releaped lazaror from his duties as first secretary of the kray cosetttee and
elected Yefiaov first secretary and meabcr of the bureau of the oommittee. The
Seventh P1ep a of thorn Khabarovsk city Committee VN1(b)s relwased Natarov from
his duties as first secretary of the city committee end elected Yefinov in his
place.
Yefinov, born in 190; of a poor peasant family la Rubino-Oterskiy Rayon,
?ologda Oblast, worked in agriculture and industry until lQ25 when he entered
a-workera'sohool (rabfak). After conpletin the school, he was want to the
North as aft agitator-propagamiot of the T bhasnekiy Sayon Committee V1(b)0
In 1929, the Party ordered his to train in the Moscow Steel Institute lasni
Stalin, *14b training he completed successfully in 1934. Yet lacy worked in
the Oor'kiy Metallurgical Plant until 1938, starting as a metallurgical engineer
ask ending as director of the plant.
