A total of 1 387,164 tons of anthracite (94.2 percent) and 1,812,765 tons of lignite (o9.7 percent) were aired. The Sokolov field filled 'Its August plan 99.2 percent; most fields 85.6 percent. Houevur, 248,526 tens of coke were produced (139.1 percent). The Czechoslovak foundries, a national enterprise, produced 133,667- tons of pig iron in August, thus filling its plan 116.33 percent. Also 190,5114 t*'ns of unfinished stool were produced, 103.91 percent of the plan. The August plan for the production of rolled iron was fulfilled 10631 percent. Also, 1,385,136 tons of anthracite were ex- tracted instead of the PlimeM amount of 1,437,345 tone: (98.8 percent). Furthermore, 1,962,215 tone of lignite, 96.6 percent of the plan, were extracted. The Ostrava field fulfilled its September plan 94.5 percent; Sladno, 87.9 percent; Most, 95.7 percent; Sokolov, 100.9 percent; and Slovakia, 80.6 percent. COAL AND LIGNITE PRODUCTION -- Svobodne Slovo, No 238, 12 Oct 48 The September quotas for the mining of black coal and lignite were not completely fulfilled. Whereas 1,476,345 tone of anthracite were to have been mined, only 1,385,136 tone were actually mined. Furthermore, 2,030,450 tons of lignite were to have been mined, but only 1,962,215 tons were mined. On the other hand, the production of coke, 259,630 tone, exceeded the quota 34.5 percent. INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION -- Rude Provo, No 233, 5 Oct 48 The miners at the Jindrich pit in Earvlnna filled their quota under the two-year plan on 4 October; 284,487 tons of coal were mined (21.41 quintals per capita psi; shift). The larolina coke works also fulfilled its two-year plan on Monday. COAL PRODUCTION AT OidTRAYA -- Lidove loviny, No 251, 26 Oct 48 A regional conference of mineXe of the Ostraveko-Barvin mines was held at Ostrava on 24 October. At this conference the Minister of Industry, Q. Eliment, frankly criticized their shortcomings And pointed out the way to their elimination. The productivity of the coal field in ocnparison with 1937 was 62.25 percent in 1946; 73.9 percent in 1947; and 74.34 percent in 1948. In contrast to this, the corresponding figures for the Sokolov field were: 1946, 78.73 percent; 1947, 86.43 percent; and 1948, 98.99 percent. ',.6W COAL MINES -- Lidova Demokracie; No 227, 29 Sep 48 The new, modern-'equipped "Ivanka" lignite mine of the Rosioka national enterprise was opened. at Dubnany, Bodonin district, on 26 September. Sep 48 The general marager of the Czechoslovak Power Plants, Engineer Juroslav Ib'_er,.oharacterized the power situation ab follow*: by the end of August, the power sector had fulfilled its production plan of electric power 99.5 percent, and gas production, 86.9 percent. Oa the other hand, the power plants of the Ocachoslovak Power Plants have fulfilled the p1Rn 96 percent and the ems plants, 94.2 percent.
