The Coal l~.ne Antonin, National Corporatiiory is a part cf the corporation Brown Cosl Mines and Brickett Works (FIDffi - Hnedouhelne Do]y a Briketarr{p Sokolov) in Sokolov (Falknov n Ohri). It is a surface mine and uses large excavators. The mine works in three shifts and produces 1,600 tons per shift. Tlie major part of the coal is transported by a rubber conveyor to a power plant located near the mine. This power plant supplies the mine and the city of Sokolov (Fa]lmov n Ohri) with electricity. The rer~sinder of the coal is forwarded by rail to various industrial plants in Czecho- slovakia. The director of the mine is a former worker, Mr. Vaclav Kucl, and the technical manager is a Soviet, Michel Andrejkiv. 2. The technical equipment of the misie and the sorting plant can not be con- sidered modern. 1~ine excavators are used, three being driven by electaic- i~, and six by steam. The only modern electric excavator. was made by the Skoda Works in Pilsen. The mine is ccnnected by rail with the railw~ station, Citice. The mina has its own narrow-gauge railway x-ith cars pulled by chains. 3- ?~-?'-'s ""? ~.-ut :i}C au-~iiuyees, of sinom 40 are administrative employees, 100 are miners and the rest are turskilled workers. In addition, there are 20 app_*~entices ?aho are accommodated in a boarding house at the mine. 2ha lowest wage of an unskilled worker is three thousand crowns per month. The average wage is four thousand crowns per month. the highest wade of a snec'-?list ~'-'~-"-b ~~=+ t+`.e :~xaa`atur is seven thousand crorms per month. The director receives 10 thousand Drowns per month. The morale of the employees is very bad due to the fast tempo of the work and the relative]y low compensation. Oa the average, the norms of indavidue]. labor output are=trlfilled by 90~. !?. About 80~ of the enq~layeea are uafriendly to the regime. Communist Propaganda, which canaista mainly of leaflets, poators and general praise for the atakhanovitea, dose not seem to be very successful.
