1. The following import and export agencies were'a part of the
-ulrarian Ministry of Foreign Trade:
(a) Import A cncies:
(1) Metalimport was responsible for importing all types
of I::achinery and metal products. Prior to a few
months alto textile needles and textile machinery
spare parts were handled by Industrialimport.
Subsequently these items too, were handled by
Netalimport, the most important of the import
agencies.
(2) Chimimport was responsible for chemicals,
industrial dyes, medical equipment, and medicines.
(3) Industrialimport handled imports of all industrial
raw materials including cellulose fiber, paper,
rubber products, glass, and tires. Danehev(fnu)
is chief of this agency; he replaced Savov (fnu).

products, such as paper and combs, could profit-

(5) Bulgarian Cinematogro;:priy took care of imports of
camera film, cameras, movie cameras, and other
photographic material and equipment, as well as
motion pictures (most movies in Bulgarian come
from the USSR, Poland or Czechoslovakia).
(b) Export ARencier3:
(1) ]>ulgploctexport handled exports of fresh and canned
fruit and vegetables
(2) R(jdexporrt was responsible for ores.
(3) Tabakm nopol took care of exports of tobacco and
cigarettes,
(1I) Buigar 'Rvz,., was responsible for exporting attar of
roses and rose water, for which the demand exceeds
the suppl-,;. Most of the exports went-to the USSR,
::ioinC to East Germany and France.
(5) 1aitseexport looked after exporting eggs and
chickens.
