In Aug and Sep 1953 the Karl Zeiss Jerta works manufactured 18,722 field glasses, types 7 by 50, 10 by 50 and 6 by 30; 2,340'of these were single glasses. About 3,000 lenses and prisms were m>:.nr:#actti:red. 2. The number of lenses for different cameras is hard to assess because the setup is currently changing. The Soviet IHG Dresden and Zeiss Ikon of Dresden are buyers. A licensed Leica lens is fabricated for the Soviet Union. The SU is also the chief customer for moving picture camera lenses. Wide-angle lenses and telescopic lenses are also built to Soviet orders. The latter is not the ordinary telescopid lens, but one with a focal length of more than 15 cm. 3. Twelve movie. outfits with loud speakers and amplifiers were delivered to the Soviet Union in Sep 53 . The sets have a pr:-ductian value of 7,000 marks. 4. The production of pi,::tsre (converter.) tubes has been resumed after a short stop while preparations were made for series production. Current production is of portable apparatus with dimensions as follows: length, about 40 cm; width, about 30 cm; height, about 30 em. The sh.tter is arranged to fold from without. Twenty-four tubes were manufa.-: tired in Srp?53. 5. The production of optical sighting devises the Al- type has not yet been resumed. No more curve potentiometers a.e being manufactured. A gyro sight has gone into production which now is built in series; 50 were manu- factured in Sep 53 . The production is done only by specially selected people. The plans are of Soviet origin.. 6. It is now reported that an infraradar search apparatus developed by Zeiss Jena will no longer be built there. The series production appears to have been taken over by another plant in the Soviet Zone. It appears that the entire newly built block will be used as a research and development department. The engineers returned from the Soviet Union are closely guarded. They have the greater part of the research department under them. 8. Zeiss Jena delivers monthly about 200 infrared filters with an average diameter of 35 cm to the baloriferwork In Dessau. It appears that this Dessau plant produces lamps and searchlights for infrared light. 4/744,14 4M/c 4/744. ii 4M/C 4/744.711 4m/c 4/744.724 4M/c 4/744.15 4M/c -1
