2. "The ore, metal and power production for he first half of 1953 as compared
with 1952 was considerably higher. The coal production has decreased.
3. "Lead-zinc ore and metal production have increased considerably. Lead, zinc
and zinc concentrates are very important export items, home consumption
of lead being only approximately eight thousand tona and of zinc approximately
ten thousand tons per year.
4. "Production of electrolytic copper shows a big increase, nearly all blister
being refined now. Home consumption of .zoyTer is going to be consumed by
the new factories, which are now under oonstrnrtion the rolling plant
at Sevojno near Uzice. (capaci-ry 17 thousand tons) and the cable factory
Svetozarevc (capacity 15 thoueari Tome), 1-..c.th in Serbia.
5. "The antimony production. is increasing; to the near future the production
should rise to tw: thousand tcna per year and more. Rome consumption is
iban 4C0 ton" Der vear, the rest is being exptr.ted
G. "Chromite production Is rising, Yug,211tzlia is be biggest producer in Europe.
Over 80% of it has been exported up now 11-ugust 195.g, but from 1954 on
the home consumption is going to he much higher. The new factory ?Megnoehrom,
at Rankcvicevo, Serbia (for refractory materials) has started operations
and the new chromecembinnte;near Skoplis, Macedonia, is under conatruciion.
7. "Manganese ore deposits are small, tut in the lead-zinc mines Trepca and
Zletovo, rhodoehrosite is found. Procesnon for ecoacmioal extraction of
manganese et ZWIC611 (Tropes) from flotation tailings and from the copper
are being developed.
8. "Pyrite concentrates are mostly from the lead-zine flotation *A Bor, Serbia.
Pyrite ore in 1ump2 comes from Majdanpek, Serbia, but the production is
declining as this mine id being reconstructed for a 1.1.4A production of
copper4earing pyrites. The determined ore reser:vee are approximately
100 million tons containing 0.9% topper and 0.6g/i rec.:Nerable gold.
9. "Mercury protion at Id.ria, Sleicoria, 15 kept at the 500 ton per year level.
This mine has produced from the year 1500 to 1951 (incl.usive), 93,767 tons
of mercury.
10. "Magnesite production was 69,915 tone in 1951 and is again steadily rising.
The newly found deposit (several million tons) at Bela Steno, near Basks (Serbia)
is starting exploitation g6 Aug 5f."
