(U) The Coordinator for the Handicapped and Disabled Veteran Program and her assistant met with , the EEO Officer for the Office of Technical Service, at his request to discuss OTS's interest in considerin disabled persons for their requirements. was briefed on the program and we recommended that he formalize OTS's specific interest in looking at files for handicapped persons for their require- ments in a memorandum which would help Recruitment Division in their efforts. b. (U) The Coordinator met with the Placement Director of Gallaudet College on 15 June to dis- cuss training in English language usage for deaf persons and to obtain some information about counseling these employees on careers. 2. (U) Select Committee Briefing: On Thursday, 16 June, the Deputy Director of Personnel for Recruitment and Placement; Chief, Recruitment Division; and Chief, Staff Personnel Division briefed members of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence concerning the mechanisms of recruitment of Agency personnel. of OLC and both believe that the presentation was well received. (U) Conference for Secretaries: A working conference for tie secretaries of field recruitment offices was held at the Ames Building and Headquarters on 14 and 15 June. The ladies were unanimous in their praise for a most enlightening and informative conference. Among the speakers was Mr. John Blake,, Deputy Director for Administration. 4. (U/AIUO) EAG Meeting: On 14 June I and others attended the EAG Meee ing concerned with personnel management discussions regarding two-grade promotions, overtime and ranking procedures. 5. (U/AIUO) Hatch Act: (Chief, 25X1A Review Staff) attended-a stu y group convene on 13 June by the Deputy Inspector General to review the impact of H.R.10, the de-Hatch Act, on Agency employees. Action has been deferred for OGC analysis of the Bill. 6. (U/AIUO) Educational Aid Fund: The Educational Aid Fund Selection Committee ia1-s started reviewing 154 applications for aid for the 1977-78 school year. This is approximately 20 more than the normal number of submissions, based on previous years. Also noted was a significant increase in applications from children of retirees and deceased employees. Notification to all applicants regarding the selection results is expected to take place in mid.-July. 7. (U/AIUO) Flights to England: Central Processing Branch has been advised 'may Pan American Airlines that their flights into London will be suspended after 22 June 1977. This is due to the expiration of a 30-year agreement between England and the United States which permitted landing of U.S. flag carriers in the United Kingdom. The agreement has not yet been renewed, and the situation is further aggravated by the controversy surrounding the landing rights for the Concorde in New York City. This agreement not only affects Pan American, but. apparently affects all American flag carriers. Alternate landing points for passengers traveling via Pan Am to Europe will be Amsterdam and Brussels. 8.(U)Redskin Tickets: The drawing for the Redskin tickets was Fie1d onT14 June, and the EAA ticket office is in the process of informing the winners. (U) Retirement Medallions: The Medallic Art Company, our current suppl ei of retirement medallions, suffered a fire over the past weekend and has advised us that this may cause a delay of a few weeks in the next shipments of medallions. 10. (C) Rehired Annuitant: The following case was approved for fihe Drectoratc of Administration: -- Independent Contractor, Confidential Correspondent, Office of Security, one-year extension. (U) Coming Events: 1. (U/AIUO) A Skills Session conducted by - (Chief, Review Staff) on 15 June provide an update by the Review Staff on current developments. The session was overbooked, so a follow-up session will be held at the Ames Building in Rosslyn on 21 June. 2. (U) We will continue our support to EAG and on- going studios. 3. C We plan to complete work on revision of and related field material concerning leave and procedures.
