Janney Director of Personnel SUBJECT : Office of Personnel Report -- Week Ending 21 October 1977 1. (U.) Job Fair: a. Recruitment officials attended the Eighth Annual Conference of the Classification and Compensation Society at the Mayflower Hotel on the dates of 18 and 19 October in company with representatives of the Position Management and Classification Division of OP, for this purpose of manning an employment booth. About 450 were in attendance at the two-day conference and an estimated 150 stopped by the Agency booth to make casual inquiry, and obtain literature on current openings for Position Classifiers and Position Management Officers. Those with serious interest were invited in for interviews at our Washington office. b. At the same Job Fair (Classification and Compensation Society), Agency literature consisting of brochures, flyers, and the Atlas on the Indian Ocean and OER publications on China and Soviet Oil Production Prospects attracted considerable attention, not only from Conferees but from hotel guests and visitors who moved through the lobby. Many commented favorably on the high quality of the printing while others mentioned that they were aware that CIA papers on energy were being well received. (U/AIUO) Admiral Turner Addresses Reservists: The Agency's Army, Navy, gar ne an it Force reservists were privileged to hear the Director, Admiral Turner, speak at the regularly scheduled Reserve Meeting on Monday, 17 October 1977 at 1750 hours. The DCI's talk was exceptionally well received. The questions after his talk were numerous and lasted for about forty minutes. 3. (U/AIUO) Retirement Activity: These figures depict total retirement activity o~ the period 10 August through 31 December 1977. The figures in the clear show totals. The figures in parenthesis represent persons who have opted for options or discontinued service or "involuntary" retirement; the figures in parenthesis are included in the total figure. Thus, of 159 persons to go by 31 December, 46 are going under the "liberal" options. (U/AIUO) Clerical Ratios: The ratio of initiations to EOD's in Clerical to ng Branch for FY-77 was 2.1. One thousand six hundred twelve (1,612) applications were received, 1,326 were put in process, and 646 applicants were entered on duty. 7. (U/AIUO) Minorit Clerical Em loyees: Of the 477 full-time clericals entered on duty in FY-77, 122 (25.6%) were Black and 6 (1.3%) were Hispanic. (U/AIUO) Combined Federal Cam ai n: As of the close of business 18 October 1977, , 0 has been collected for the CFC, 29% of our goal. 25X1A the Agency's Combined Federal Campaign Coordinator, and four other Agency employees associated with the Campaign attended a CFC luncheon to hear "Midway Progress Reports" on Wednesday, 19 October 1977. 9. (U/AIUO) Strike Threat: There is a threat of a worldwide two-day airline trike by all airlines who are members of International Air Transport Association (IATA). The strike, which may take place next Tuesday and Wednesday, is planned as a protest against hijackings and airport security. We have not received any information from our cleared contacts at the major airlines which indicates whether or not they will participate if the strike is called. 10.
