Spain-Morocco
King Juan Carlos last night postponed, for at least
10 days, his visit to Morocco that was to have begun next
Monday, according to press reports. The announcement
was made after an emissary of Moroccan King Hassan II had
arrived in Madrid, reportedly to criticize alleged re-
marks on the status of Western Sahara by Spanish Prime
Minister Suarez during his visit to Algeria last month.
China - Western Europe
The office of French President Giscard announceC,
yesterday that Chinese Chairman Hua Guofeng would make
a four-day, official visit to France this year. It said
the dates for his stay would be disclosed later. The
British Foreign office said the UK would also be on Hua's
itinerary, su ggesting late October as the likely time-
frame;

Nicaragua - Costa Rica
Nicaraguan Foreign Minister Quintana yesterday
charged Costa Rica with complicity in the latest San-
dinista offensive and called for a meeting of the con-
sultative group of the Organization of American States.
He indicated that Costa Rica would be charged with vio-
lating the Rio de Janeiro Treaty of 1947, which provides
that no adhering state either invade or assist subversion
in another signatory to the document.

Poland
Polish party chief Gierek and Stefan Cardinal
Wyszynski, head of the Catholic church in Poland, met
yesterday for only the third time in recent years to
discuss the visit of Pope John Paul II, which begins
Saturday. According to the official Polish news agency,
Gierek promised a "cordial" official reception for the
Pope and expressed satisfaction with the Church-state
understandings that serve as a basis for this unpre-
cedented Papal trip to a Communist country. Wyszynski
in turn is said to have called on the largely Catholic
population to mark the occasion "in an orderly, cultural,
