has demonstrated its ability to carry out reprisals
LEBANON-ISRAEL-FEDAYEEN: Lebanon has indicated
that it will probably take limited measures against
the fedayeen in the hope of softening Israeli retal-
iation for the recent incident at Tel Aviv airport.
President Franjiyyah has told the US ambassador that
although his government is reluctant to move against
all fedayeen organizations, it will take some meas-
ures against the Popular Front for the Liberation of
Palestine, the group responsible for the airport in-
cident. The Lebanese Army has been placed on alert
and additional defensive weapons have been deployed
around Beirut airport. Contrary to press reports
of An Tsrap-li military buildup along the border,
there have been no unusua mi i-
tary movements in Israel. Tel Aviv, however, often
without visible preparations.
