Allende I I responded to threats By e two majaz alit on parties to resign if their demands are not satis- fied by indicating that he would replace their cabinet ministers with military officers. He gave them until 7 June to resolve their conflict. The President reportedly told army chief Prats on 22 May that he considers military officers in the cabinet responsible to him, not to the coalition. Consonant with reports that the military hopes to influence Allende to moderate his government, Prats replied that his condition for such appoint- ments would be a major change in official eco- nomic policies. 25X1 25X1 1 Jun 7 2 Central Intelligence Bulletin 25X1 Approved For Release 2003/05/21 : CIA-RDP79T00975AO22000060002-9 25X1 Approved For Release 2003/05/21 : CIA-RDP79T00975AO22000060002-9 Next 2 Page(s) In Document Exempt Approved For Release 2003/05/21 : CIA-RDP79T00975AO22000060002-9 25X1 Approved F DHOFAR SAM n Ni lturayin f ("'/A I Masirah 25X1 Arabian ' Sea 25X1 Thamarit Kuria Muria Islands Saialah Unsurfaced road Track or trail 50 700 Approved For Release 2003/05/21 : CIA-RDP79T00975AO22000060002-9 Approved Fo OMAN.- YEMEN (ADEN): Fighting has broken out between the two countries for the second time in re- cent weeks, Omani air and ground forces struck the Yemen (Aden) coastal village of Hawf on 25-26 May, prob- ably in retaliation for incidents committed by the Aden-backed Popular Front for the Liberation of Oman and the Arab Gulf, The Omani attack on 25 May included raids by six jets, one of which reportedly crashed, and a combined ground and air assault the following day. Aden responded by dispatching regular army units to the vicinity of Hawf on 27 May. Artillery fire between Omani and Adeni forces was exchanged on 30-31 May. Earlier in h month, Omani jets, Istruck across ze or , against Ha aru ich Omani positions were being shelled.
