The outcome of negotiations on the composition of the new, cabinet and legislative priorities will de- pend largely on how quickly Moro can paper over the factional differences within his Christian Democratic (CD) party. The CD central directorate is scheduled to meet on 27 January, The key to solution of the party's immediate difficulties may lie in satisfying the demands of ex- foreign minister Fanfani and his faction for more cabinet posts, among other things. The Italians will send a representative to the crucial EEC Council meeting on 28-29 January, but he will not be empowered to make any new commit- ments for his government, 26 Jan 66 Approved Fo 25X1, 330001-9 25X1 Approved For Release 2002/08/29 : CIA-RDP79T00975AO08700330001-9 Approved For Release 2002/08/29 : CIA-RDP79T00975AO08700330001-9 Approved For Release 2002/08/29 CIA-RDP79T00975A008700330001-9 IA Netherlands: Approved For Release 2002/08/29 : CIA-RDP79T00975A008700330001-9 011 25X1 Other West European Communist parties gen- erally support the Soviet Union. Old-line Stalinists in the top leadership of the Dutch party have long been disgruntled by the actions of Khrushchev and his suc- cessors. The party has thus far, however, made no move to align itself publicly with the Chinese Co - nists. *Dominican Republic: The struggle between the armed forces leaders and President Garcia Godoy con- tinues in a low key as both sides maneuver to avoid a showdown. The military leaders ordered overseas on 6 January have given no sign of modifying their adamant refusal to leave, but a series of meetings of officers to discuss the matter suggests that their position is sub- ject to change. Garcia Godoy in turn has left the door open for concessions to bring about the eventual depar- 25X1 ture of those officers he feels must leave the county before elections can be held this June.
