2 Indochina mediation feelers hinted.
An influential Burmese politician has informed US
Embassy Rangoon that the Viet Minh representative
in that capital has expressed interest in a negotiated
settlement with the French and anticipated receipt of
Ho Chi Minh's terms of reference for such a settle-
ment in the near future. The Burmese informant

speculated that the Indonesian Ambassador in Rangoon may be playing a role
in this mediation effort.
